I use the isABelt...it's a virtually invisible belt (so they claim), and I can attest for their claim. You can wear it to hold your pants up while wearing a fashion belt over and works like a charm. Going through airports is a cinch as the belt has no metal, holds your pants up and almost disappears under your top. I've seen the Invisibalet in person and don't like the stiffness of it nor the thickness...the isabelt is much thinner...more elastic, has two adjusters so it's very adjustable...definately the better choice for solving fashion issues you mentioned above.

My advice to you (and Ele) would be to just get everything tailored gradually. You don't have to do it all at once! Maybe take a couple of the pants/jeans you wear the most to the tailor and have them done now, then a month later a couple more, and so on. That way they will fit you PERFECTLY! And meanwhile, you'll have the invisible belt. I dealt with less-than-perfect fitting bottoms for a long time and I cannot tell you how much better it feels to wear ones that fit like a glove! I went through this silly phase where I kept buying new jeans that didn't fit over and over again because I kept getting frustrated. Then one day I just bit the bullet and spent to have them fit perfectly, and I haven't bought a single pair of jeans since!

I am so comforted! Thanks guys! And, yes, like Ele, being a MAJOR pear (Australian sizes, 14 or 16 below and 10 or 12 up top) it is a rare and bizarre thing when I find pants that fit like a glove with the need of no belt. So Maya, although I'd love to have them all taken in to wear them without the need of a belt, I'd be broke! =0) The invisible belt is a great idea! Maybe getting a very sleek belt will be more economical though? Mmmmm... next shopping mission I think! Thanks again guys! Feel 'normal' now!

Haha, I have the exact same issue! I feel so silly wearing two belts at once, like I'm "cheating" or something. As a pear, I have pretty much NEVER had a pair of pants or jeans fit well without a belt, and it would be financially impossible for me to have the waists on ALL my pants taken in.

I really like the idea of the invisibelt, but I probably won't be buying one. Like LOP, I just use my sleekest, most unobtrusive belt when I'm wearing a longer shirt and waist-belting it.

I have a special belt for this purpose. A bit similar to the invisible belt bella mentioned (genius idea BTW!), but mine is just a sleek leather belt with a flat buckle. I also have a few elastic belts that work with skirts, but not with pants if you'd like to be able to sit without thinking how your back is holding up.

I'm with Bella! Go with the Invisibelt! I've been looking at one because I hate how belts look lumpy under some long tops & sweaters.

You're not alone! Somebody even invented the transparent belt for this purpose:

I think it could work if like macs outfit you only see 1 belt. But it might be more comfortable and give a smoother line if you get the pants taken in so they fit without a belt x

Hah. I just went through airport security. They told me to remove my belt so I did... twice. Once, the regular width belt that keeps my jeans hanging just how i like them. A second time, a gorgeous wide belt that I used to accent my blazer (which was long enough to hide my jeans belt). The security guard looked at me funny and asked, why would anybody need two belts?

I saw go for it. If it works with your specific outfit, there's nothing wrong with rocking 2 belts.

If your pants are unwearable without a belt, they probably don't fit properly. Perhaps you need the waist taken in.

I have a query. I love the high waisted belt look but most of my pants need a belt around them as well to keep them up! So I feel kind of silly, wearing two belts, even though one is for decorative purposes only and my shirts cover the pants belt; so no one is the wiser. Just wondering if there are others who have this same issue?
