I'm wearing heattech socks daily with my cropped jeans and high shaft booties. You might find this post useful:

I had the same problem and posted about it yesterday on Angie's blog. She suggested wider flares for the crops. I have some boot leg crops that I'm going to try in my house over the weekend to see what happens. I had wardrobe failure when I wore my crops with both long socks and tights to keep my ankles warm. Creeping up of the crops! :-)

I still recieved many complements on my booties. I was wearing red suede Kate Spade pointy toe block heel booties and they have a tiny bow on the back of the ankle. I think they' were show stoppers despite the disaster with the crops. Maybe that's the other lesson, make sure you are wearing something to distract from the problem and maybe no one will notice. (Or maybe everyone noticed and that's why they complemented the boots! LOL! )

One hour east of Toronto along lake Ontatio. We had a white Christmas, but temps just above freezing and rain has washed away all the snow. I wear flashy coloured thin mostly cotton socks most days, but currently a second pair of wool socks over and leather or rubber boots! I'm a size 9.5 in shoes but size up to 10 in boots so that I can do the wool sock thing. If my feet are warm, life is good! Cropped pants have been out of circulation for about 6 weeks and likely won't be worn again until April.

I either wear tall boots, in which case socks can be whatever, or else I wear high-shaft booties with OTK socks in a color that is similar to my crops or the shoes.

We just had over 10 inches of snow and temperatures in the single digits F or below 0 C. Yes, wooly socks are a necessity, inside and out. I am wearing them over tights and with full length pants. Boot socks are on my shopping list. So are warm slippers. Even heavy wool socks alone are not warm enough indoors today.
I had to include a photo of Mags, our dog, from before this snow. The other photos: 1. the forecast from yesterday when the snow started, 2-3 our yard from this morning. We have had more snow since. We saw skiers going down the street in front of the house.

I'm in NH too. Socks every day, otherwise my feet would fall off. It's snowy but not brutally cold so far, so I've been wearing cropped and cuffed pants when I can. To be "fancy" I'll wear a pair of black opaque tights underneath my jeans, put an ankle-height wool running sock over the tights, one short enough to hide inside an ankle boot. Other days I just let my thick wooly socks peek out, or layer them over fleecy/wooly leggings, no shame. Boot socks layered over skinnies is very much still a thing where I am -- and my Montreal SIL and her friends all do it, so it must still be somewhat in vogue.

We've been experiencing some cold snaps here in North Central Texas, and I've been wearing 2 pairs of socks at a time, and am about to add a third. I will be so happy when we get our small house built and there isn't all the drafty air leaks like we have in this RV.

Style Fan, your dog is so fluffy and cute! The perfect dog for a two-hours-north-of-Toronto climate. :-)

Most unusually, we have had a foot of snow in Vancouver for over a month now. No socks is absolutely not an option! But even if we had our normal rainy winter, I'd be wearing socks. I wear thin dress socks most days, since I don't spend all day outside, but if I'm going to be out a lot then I wear heavy winter boots with slightly thicker socks. No need for woollen ones -- my boots are really warm!

I live 2 hours north of Toronto. I am currently wearing fleecy leggings with thick Smartwool socks. When I go outside I wear knee high black Sorels that no one would wear for fashion. I dress to keep warm. The snow is over my knees.

We're not as cold as New Hampshire, but we had four or five inches of snow this morning. You can be sure I'm wearing socks. In fact, I wore snow boots with my socks when I shoveled the driveway and the deck. Also, I am not wearing crops. No siree. I'm wearing bootcuts. Also some fleece. And right now, I have a dog snuggling in my lap.

how are you wearing socks in the colder months? We are having the coldest and rainiest winter in about 4 years. Over the holidays I wore pumps with crops and bare legs. This was OK as I was mostly indoors. Then when it was colder I wore crops with higher shaft booties so no skin showed. This would have been fine if the crops would have stayed put. But the riding up when I sat put an end to that. Now I wear longer calf tighter type pants and jeans with all the booties, and am mostly wearing socks in the same color as the booties. This is what I will be doing as long as we have the cold and rain. For really casual dressing I am wearing my heavier colorful or stripe socks with sneakers and ankle booties and letting them show. I will be wearing a dress next week to a function and will wear semi opaque tights with higher heel pumps. Other option is wearing tall boots with skinnies. We need the rain and mostly I am enjoying the cold as I am getting out sweaters that have hardly seen the light of day for a long while.
