I had to stop at the post office to mail out something I sold on eBay -- our local post office is the best. It's a small office and we have the absolute nicest workers there. I hadn't been there in a while, and one of my two favorite employees there was at the desk. Before I even got in the second door into the office, he was throwing me air hugs. We chatted a little as he rung up my package (and I bought stamps I don't even need because I just want to support USPS that much more these days), but people were starting to line up in the outer office, so we were making it quick. But before I left, he complimented me on my outfit and remarked especially on the shoes. He exclaimed a couple of times, "those shoes are so great!" It made me feel good that I made at least a little effort yesterday. It's time for a new iPhone so I went to the Apple store, only to find out that you need an appointment. So I sat there and bought the phone online and arranged to pick it up by appointment tomorrow. I then had about 45 minutes to kill because I was having my car cleaned (the best inexpensive car detailer around has a setup in the mall parking garage outside of Nordstrom).&nbsp;</p> <p>The mall was WEIRD, y'all. Most stores are closed, either temporarily or permanently. Nordstrom is now closed for good, and it made me sad. We lost Lord &amp; Taylor a few years ago, so Macy's and JC Penney remain. There's a Sears there, but it's weird that I don't even know if that's still open -- it's always been on the end of the mall where I never go. The stores that are open have rules about how many people can be in the store at one time, but the only place that would have had any danger of getting crowded was the Apple store, which of course was only by appointment. Plus they had two lines roped off on opposite sides of the mall corridor to keep people lined up with social distancing and out of the way of passersby.&nbsp;</p> <p>I cruised through Zara and didn't see anything particularly compelling. Eddie Bauer was a winner though -- I'd been keeping an eye out for a new henley style long-sleeve tee or two, and they had some really soft ones on clearance. In fact, everything was on deep discount. I bought a pair of gray jogger-style hiking pants (zip pockets!) too, and the three items totaled all of $45. I couldn't try things on, but I feel confident about the tops. The weather is spectacular — what summer should be. Low 80s, low humidity, and breezy. I slept with the window open last night for the first time in over two months.</p> <p>I’ve had these Naturalizer sneakers for a few months and hadn’t yet worn them, so I finally debuted them today. I made a stupid mistake though — didn’t put on socks underneath and my heels are tender from months of sandals, so I now have a blister on my heel. Oops.<br /> Otherwise they’re comfy and I just need to wear no-show socks in the future. </p> <p>I broke out this happy patterned dress from Anthro last year. It’s cool and comfortable and machine washable so not so impractical. But definitely a step up from my usual. </p> <p>I’m going to call my hair stylist tomorrow and see if a cut is possible before I leave town, but they may be super booked, so I’m not counting on anything. It’s tamed into a ponytail again here but it was pretty wild last night with air drying and post-rain humidity. </p>
