The only heels I wear are 1 1/2-2 inches...if you can call that a heel, but I think they look fine hemmed almost touching the ground with my booties or sandals that are this height! I like the look with the tennies but that would require another pair hemmed for those.

I prefer flares with a small heel or wedges. Mine are hemmed to almost hit the ground

I have mine hemmed for a 5 cm heel (to almost hit the ground) but I will also wear them with flat shoes (boots, sneakers or sandals) and just let them puddle. I quite like that look but it does mean the back hem gets dirty.
For tops my preference is for a tunic top or drapey top but I am also going to experiment with wearing them with fitted knitwear (a turtleneck) because I still have some fitted tops and Angie says fitted knitwear is coming back.

I don't have any flares, simply because I like my options open with heel heights. If I did I would probably just wear a couple of specific shoes with them and stick to that. I'm with Marley too.. I don't like myself in flats plus flares as I did that all the time in the 90's and those were my personal frump years.

In my opinion flares are not near as versatile as are other styles of jeans. I always hem mine for 1 1/2" - 2 1/2" heeled footwear. I think that wearing flared pants/jeans with flat shoes is just not all that flattering - at least not on me - they make me look and feel stumpy and kind of dowdy!

My long flares get worn only with heels, and are hemmed to sit juuuuust above the ground. In previous years I wore them 1/4" longer than the ground for a purposeful puddled effect. As for how to guarantee they work the most shoes? My heel heights are strictly kept 2-3" and I wear only the shoes that work best with the flares -- I know which pairs I'll want to wear most with them, and hem to that height.

Since I'm short, I wear with a heel (generally around 2 inches) to help balance the proportion. For work pants, I generally hem to be 1/8-1/4 of an inch off the ground, with my heels. For denim, generally just grazing the ground. As for tops, Generally somethinh not body con, but generally not anything to flowy either ( sorry not much help there)

And I wear looser tops with my flares because they are fitted at the hip/thigh. For the ones I need to hem, wider at the thigh, I'd probably default to a more fitted top...but not necessarily, since I dress very casually.

I've had mine hemmed to work best with a particular heel height (2.5 inches), but I reserve those flares for "nicer" outings. I have a pair of wide legs that I found at a yard sale and I would like to hem to flats or cropped.

Hemmed an 1/4 to an 1/8 inch above the ground. I am tall, so I will let them ride a bit shorter simply because it is hard to find lengths. I find the difference between sneaker bulk and my less bulky boots lets me wear most of my pants with both sneakers and my 1 to 1.5" boots. I don't wear heels much, but my slacks are hemmed to accommodate an 11/2 or 2 inch heel. I think the goal is to not look like the person in post 3 in that odd- in between length between true crops and just too short pants. I think the pants in 1 are probably too short for you with any shoes, but having a pair of sneakers on would help gauge it.

Do you wear your flares with sneakers, flat boots, wedges, or what?

Do you wear them dragging the ground or just to the bottom of the heel? Do you only wear them with certain footwear? If not how do you get a versatile pair that can be worn with a variety of footwear?

Do you pair them with drapey tops?

It is getting cooler here now and I am bringing out my 1 pair of wider leg jeans, an old pair of black cords that fit well and feel great on, and an old brown pair that also fit well. Photos were posted before on these flares but I will post them again here. Some photos from Bloglovin, and such.

I am going to wear mine with sneakers and flat heel booties. I will probably wear my cords with ankle booties that have a two inch heel and maybe the two and a half wedge pair, but will see what that looks like.
