Yellow's my happy colour but I can't wear it near my face. So I wear it as a bag, and occasionally in a print with other colours that work well on me. I would gladly wear yellow bottoms, too, but I don't own any.

My problem is I have a lot of favorite colors, lol. BUT certain colors look dreadful on me, and the only way to wear them is in a print where the unflattering color is combined with flattering ones.

I agree with you! You should definitely wear the colors that make you happy, but I think there's a good and bad way to do it. I definitely like the idea of having a palette and have in fact decided to use one to make creating a small versatile wardrobe easier, but you can always add other colors all the same. With inexpensive accessories for example. Or in prints! In fact the shirt I'm wearing today has a warm oxblood red as a background color (not so good on me in a solid), but it totally works because the other colors in the print are my best ones.

Oh yes - I'm a deep autumn, but love to wear periwinkle and raspberry (winter shades). I'm definitely not locked into the "only wear your best colors" thing, but I like knowing what they are.

Absolutely! I wear happy colors that don't suit my complexion as bottoms, that way I don't need to give them up! I love olive, especially with purple. Olive makes me look like the living dead. Absolutely, uncompromisingly. It is awful on me. So, I have olive trousers, which I wear with light blue, light pink, and purple tops, all of which look very good next to my face. Hooray for separates!

I know exactly how you feel. If we're wearing less than ideal colours, just for the happiness factor, it's a good strategy to wear prints, to break up the impact, or add accessories in better colours, as long as they're compatible, of course. I'm looking for a scarf or two in white, partly for this very reason. A buffer of white between my face and the other colour should make it work better. At least that's my reasoning. And a plain white scarf could be used in so many ways, that it will be worth it even if it doesn't work for that.

I wear blue and green a lot, simply because they are my favourite colours.

I was thinking about the whole color-season thing (I can't remember what it's called, but it's the one where you are given a season, like deep winter or light spring), and I looked at my outfit. Mine has always said I'm a "deep winter", but I realized today that I'm wear more "fall" colors and it just made me happy. Do you every find yourself going outside of the recommended colors because it makes you happy?

Edit: I think I may need to explain. I've been told that the colors I'm wearing now, like burnt orange and olive green, aren't my best colors, but they aren't bad for me. But my top and pants make me happy, so I still want to wear them.
