I especially like your creative solutions for changing situations: the jacket and belt bag for the Queen cover concert and the day-to-evening treatment you gave the cocktail dress. The faux Persian lamb jacket, brooch, and pumps make for a gorgeous, classy look! This has been a busy time of year musically (as well as otherwise). Here are two recent WIW to concerts.</p> <p>1. Our province's Youth Orchestra put on a concert that was a tribute to Queen. All the local high school choirs and music teachers took part. Members of my university+community choir were invited to join in. Only a few of us took part. But really, how can you say no to an opportunity to sing Bohemian Rhapsody on stage with a live orchestra?</p> <p>The dress code was concert black with a pop of colour. Since it wasn't the usual kind of choral concert, I varied from my usual pieces. I put a sleeveless, side-slit linen dress over leggings (kind of a salwar kameej silhouette). Sleeveless, because the stage is often intolerably hot. In case it was instead way too cold, I topped it with a mixed-media jacket with leather panels and studs. No pockets, so I belted with a leather fanny pack.</p> <p>On my feet, moto boots with a harness strap. Not shown in the photo, because I took them off after driving home through a snowstorm.</p> <p>For my hair, I followed the tip I learned from YouTuber Ellie-Jean Royden: To do "edgy", go against your body type. For me, a Flamboyant Natural, wild and unruly hair is my default, so Edgy means severely neat and tidy. I scraped my top hair back into a leather bow and then braided it tightly. I think it worked, although it was unwinding by the time I took the pics at the end of the evening.</p> <p>For the colour pop, I used a pale green plisse scarf. One of the pastel items I keep around to wear during Cold Spring and brief real spring, then pack away for another year.</p> <p>Other choristers wore scarves, mostly red, purple, or deep orange; a few prints; a few wacky colourful hair accessories. The teachers wore a lot of leather: boots, leggings, jackets, minis. The orchestra kids wore custom T-shirts like the poster. (wish I could get one!) The conductor topped his with a studded leather jacket.</p> <p>2. The other concert was an evening of Mozart at the symphony. (I won the tickets in a silent auction, so a special treat.) I wanted to Dress Up. I almost forgot I had this cocktail dress. </p> <p>I had to drive straight from work, so for day I used a sweater to make the dress look like a skirt. I tried it both ways, full length and tucked under. Any preference? For the day I wore Chelsea boots with pushed-down socks. </p> <p>After work, I switched the sweater for a faux-Persian-lamb bolero. Mom contributed a brooch when I couldn't find any of mine. The shoes are new, thrifted from a very classy hospice shop. They will come out again on Easter, when the rest of my outfit will be hidden under a choir gown.</p> <p>If you've read this far, thanks for bearing with me.
