Like Janet, I was wondering if the ruching was a little low (wasn't sure if it should be closer to your waist than hips, and probably wouldn't have even noticed if I weren't used to details around my own midsection hitting me too low), but it sounds like it just needed to be pulled up. Other than that, looks nice and summery and great on you.

Your side view is so much nicer than mine! I tried that on and looked like a bag of flab. Sorry for that image. You look FANTASTIC!

I didn't notice the ruching until Janet pointed it out. Honestly, still barely see it. Looks like a comfy dress that looks fab on you. Not too body con at all. And gives you some calf coverage.

Thanks, carter and Mo!
@Janet: I couldn't figure out how to adjust the ruching. It starts at my waist and I think I pulled it down. I just tried it on again and pulled the ruching up a little higher--I think it looks better but will take another picture when DD returns my camera (don't hold your breath.) You have a good eye. Thanks for catching that!
@AviaMariah: Thank you. I went back to look at the picture too. It looks like the ruching on the petite version is in the right spot. I just had it adjusted too far down.

I had to go back and look at the pictures after reading Janet's comment. Does the ruching start at your waist? It's hard to tell in the picture. If it starts lower than your waist then I might agree with her that it's too long in the body but if not, I think it's just the way the ruching is laying at your hip area in these particular pictures. I don't think it's too body con as long as you're not self conscience in it.

This might just be me, but it seems a little long, not just the hemline but in the body -- it might be the combination of ruching and stripes throwing off my eye, but the ruching seems to fall a little low on you.

Oops, hit reply too early. I meant to add that it doesn't look too body con at all. I think it fits you nicely through the body, but there is something a little off in the proportion to my eye.

Looks great to me! I don't see a calf issue, but I suppose we always see flaws in ourselves that no one else would notice.

I've been looking all summer for a dress like this. I tried a few earlier in the season at the Gap but even in petite the fit was off. There was a dress in contention at Atheta but the fabrication was too heavy for my summer (and it looked a little too boho so I passed.) I found this one at Nordstrom (on sale too) and think the slim fit is off set by the more modest length. To be honest, my dress hunt has been hampered by my Achilles calf. I am still a little self conscious of the wasted side--people alway comment on it (Ugh, I know. I know.) I'm working on building the injured one and trying to slim down the "good" side. Hoping they will meet somewhere in the middle :)

Would love your thoughts. I just threw it on but I'd probably wear it pretty much like this--perhaps different shoes. Maybe a vest. Too body con or does the ruching and length save it? I'm planning on returning my newly acquired black VC tube skirt if this passes muster. TIA!
