Ooh, pencil skirts - I hadn't thought of that. The place I"m going to, it's not ok to show leg, so I'll look forward to that on my return. Thank you Antje.

Wow Sihaya, now I'm SOOO curious, I'd love to see you in the very short hair! I bet it looks super cute.
When I have my hair cut very short and want to "femme myself up", I wear large earrings and pencil skirts. Have fun with it!

Thanks so much everyone. Yes, I am trying to get used to the feeling of having my face so "exposed" and have to keep at least my dark lipstick on hand so that I have some makeup on. I am leaving town for 2 weeks and when I return, I'll try to experiment with head bands and scarves if I can work up my courage and *gulp* maybe even post a few pictures.

hi sihaya! nice to see you on the forum again!

it is hard to make recommendations without seeing a picture, but i'd say a short hair cut really draws attention to your face since there is no hair to hide behind, so it's a great time experiment with fun makeup, funky earrings, hairbands or scarves (that would add a great pop of color to your dark hair, and looks cute with bangs!). have fun with it while you wait for it to grow out!

Hi Sihaya it is nice to hear from you again. It seems like you have been quiet for a while.
I discussed going short with my stylist. I know that I am not built for having one of those cute pixie cuts but hey a gal can dream. I brought it up to my stylist and she said, "Well don't seem to be the type to wear a lot of makeup, and when you go real short on hair you need to concentrate more on makeup". That made a lot of sense to me because in order to not look masculine with the short hair, the makeup would counter balance with more femininity, like wearing a ruffled blouse with a mensware vest. As for earrings I think we would need to see them on you to make a decision for what works best for you. You just never know till you try them. It seems like it would be a great time to show off some amazing earrings

I have discovered that I am much more keen on makeup since cutting my hair. I haven't bought any because of my job situation, unfortunately, but when I get back into the workforce it's one of the first things I plan to do. The less hair you have, the more focus is on your face.

I'm also amazed by how different my hair looks with headbands than without. As for earrings, I prefer simpler, smaller ones than I used to wear (on the rare occasion that I wore earrings). I used to love big dramatic ones, and I still do not wear anything too small. It's hard to explain. I definitely like earrings more now that I have short hair, simply because they are more visible.

Thanks Kari - my hair is too short to style any way at all. It's shorter than a bob though not quite a crew cut but almost there. Picture Angie's hair length and then think shorter. I have thick, black hair. I have (too short) bangs in front right now. Many people are complimenting me on it but I'm not sure if that's just because they feel obliged to say something when they can't help but notice such a radical change. Some say, they like how much attention it draws to my face, makes it really clear what I look like, and frames my face well. Another way to think about the length is that it's about half inch below the bottom of my ear.

It depends on your hair length/style, but longer/more detailed earrings, scarves, headbands, chunky necklaces, or trying out new/fun styles with your hair could be a great way to make the most of it while you're waiting for it to grow out.

Also, making sure that you still go in to get your hair styled every couple months can help a ton. I think it's better to give up a little bit of length, especially if you hair grows quickly, so you can look really polished. :)

What is your cut like/what length?

I recently had a haircut and it's cut a little too short. I'm not overly stressed about it since hair grows back sooner or later and in my case usually sooner. However, I thought I'd use this opportunity to experiment and get educated. Do any of you have suggestions for how to compensate for too short hair? Longer earrings? More feminine clothing? Anything else. Sorry, can't post photo since I don't want my face seen and it likely won't mean much without it.
