Stranger things appeals to all of us in the house. Jon doesn’t like Yellowstone. Mad Men is my favourite tv series of all time. So many good characters. It's really well written, funny, and has a lot of heart. Short episodes. Great interplay between generations.  Fashion wise, it's a good show too. Jean Smart's character is gorgeous and flamboyant. The Millenial/Gen Z character is in Doc Martens and high waisted everything.  (The actress - Hannah Einbinder -is Laraine Newman's daughter! Now that I know that, I totally can tell). They’ve made sure to include some strong female characters including designer Viviene Westwood and another who I won’t name because guessing who people are is part of the fun. It’s not perfect but very watchable in a fun, stylized, roller coaster stream-of-consciousness kind of way (as in maybe take a thc gummy beforehand if you partake). They played widowed/spinster aunts who were very much sidelined from the drama. I rewatched half of the first episode to sort out what was going on. I don't actually remember all of this happening - I should. It's very cool how local it feels. It also freaks me out, every time I take Amtrak and it runs behind the boarded up row houses. I remember meeting some people at a New Year's Eve party 7 or 8 years ago who were extras in The Wire. We started We Own This City too. The opening credits include photos by a few colleagues of mine, and the whole story is pretty familiar to me, considering how close to home it is. I wonder if some of it might be confusing for those not familiar with the case -- the jumps in time can be confusing for me!  I'm about to jump back into Russian Doll, now that the second season is available. I watched it while I was on my trip, and then came home and told my husband he had to watch it... so I ended up watching it again with him! Anxiously awaiting the next season. It's very dark but also drily funny. Ben Stiller is the producer/directs and writes. John Turturro and Christopher Walken are great presences in it, Patricia Arquette is amazing (a cross between Miranda Priestly and a nosy neighbor character). And Adam Scott is fantastic in the lead. Casting, visuals, music, script are all very well done.  I'm excited that Better Call Saul is back! Going to get hubs caught up on the last season of that and start the new season. Rewatched Ozark to refresh my memory on how it all started/how it's going, in preparation for the second half of the last season.  Speaking of which, because Ruth Langmore/Julia Garner...Inventing Anna was pretty good. Compelling, and good performances.
