What? A cami that must be dry-cleaned? What a folly. I would not like the idea of those chemicals against my skin (but, in general, I do not like the idea of dry-cleaning ...). And as you say it must be washed frequently. For what it's worth, I have always hand-washed silk and nothing has ever happened.

Whatever you do, don't put it in the dryer or that will be the end of the pretty cami.

It is a tough one to say. I have washed some silk tops and some have come out just fine, but the others, like Chewy mentioned, can changed the sheen and texture. I don't think there is a good way of knowing in advance, so if you want to be safe, I would dry clean it only.

A silk cami sounds so fancy. I prefer washing silk clothes with cool water and with mild detergent.

Yes, the item is silk. I should have mentioned that in my original post.

Chewy, I wish places wouldn't create dry-clean-only camis. They're right up against the skin, so I would think that they would need pretty frequent cleaning.

The website lists it as silk. I know that silk can be hand washed, but it does sometimes change the sheen or hand of it. I would dry clean it.

Yes you can, it suggests you hand wash it but it's polyester so you can wash it in a gentle cycle.

I recently bought the J. Crew Carrie cami despite the fact that the care tag says dry clean only. The SA at my local store told me that she did think that the cami should be dry cleaned; she did not recommend handwashing it. I was just wondering if any of the forum members here had the cami and whether they have tried handwashing it.

Here is the link: https://www.jcrew.com/womens_s...../C3480.jsp
I tried posting a find, but for some reason the YLF Collect would not recognize the web page as something that could be collected.
