From what I saw, the shoulders fit you pretty well. I think it would be a nice outwear for a dress and boots in cold weather.

I like the coat, but like the others have mentioned, I can't tell much from the picture, sorry. I think I would definitely stick to skinny jeans or pants when you wear it, or a skirt like San mentioned.

Btw...love your privo's! Very cute!

I think if you were wearing a skirt with your legs showing, the voluminous of the coat would be better balanced.

Thanks Angie, sorry about the quality of the picture. I tried to get a better one but unfortunately it didn't work. However as I was playing with it, I noticed that it looks better buttoned all the way up - maybe having the top unbuttoned contributed to the sloppy shoulder look. It actually is pretty fitted through the shoulders and only starts widening below the yoke.

Lannie - yes, I couldn't resist the blue velvet:)

Maya, I had a similar experience with Boden sizes. I had to return a couple of other things in the past because size 8 was too big. This is size 10 but I don't think I can go smaller in the shoulders. My shoulders are fairly wide and I am usually mindful of the fit, but I guess that's what makes me hesitant about voluminous look - does it work on strong shoulders?

Nicole, you're right - my eye is so not adjusted to that look. Maybe if I turned on the TV once in a while I wouldn't have these sorts of questions!

The length seems fine to me but it seems like it might be big, which wouldn't surprise me since Boden's size 8 is often too big for me. The picture is quite dark so it's hard to tell. Are the shoulder seams drooping? I can always tell if something is too big based on the shoulders.

The coat is really sweet Marianne and I bet it looked super when you were pregnant. It’s not too long at all. (That’s actually my favourite coat length). But I can’t tell whether it's too voluminous. The picture is dark. I love the voluminous trend. It’s arty-farty and different which I find appealing. But it’s best to wear voluminous pieces WITH tailoring. I can’t see whether that coat is tailored enough on top.

I wouldn't shorten it--it's a great skirt/dress length jacket. I also think the volume works--and I think it will be more fashionable this winter because I'm seeing so much more volume on people on television. (I was getting a pedi and some talk show with 5 women was on--Barabar Walters and Whoopi Goldberg were two of them--it's probabaly some very popular morning show, but I don't watch much TV and don't follow famous people). Anyway I commented to my friend that all 5 of the women on stage were wearing very voluminous outfits. It's the first time I noticed that trend being so "in my face". So, volume is making a come back and your jacket will shine this winter. It's a keeper and looks fab on you! *(IMHO)

Hmmm, it is rather voluminuous (more than the website photo suggests). You could try belting it. I saw the odd person do that in the winter and it really looked chic. I know that might seem like a hassle, but we put on and peel off so many layers in the winter anyhow, so what's one more thing? ;)
I could see how you were tempted by it, though. Blue velvet! I love velvet. The length is just fine (I wear my coats to the knee as well) and you have many options when it comes to scarves. I can't really think of a colour that wouldn't work off the top of my head.

I think I am having a hard time with it because it's more voluminous than I am used to. You can't quite tell from the picture on the site. Here it is on me:

http://i293.photobucket.com/al.....ure023.jpg

The length seems OK to me, but I might be wrong. I don't own anything similar, most of my coats are more fitted or belted and more standard colors.

Ideas on scarves would be great too!

Why do you feel you need to justify this jacket? What is it about it that you don't like? I think it's cute on the website. Can you take a photo of it on you?

Is it too long? (You could have it shortened.) I think the collar is a bit too small, but nothing a well placed scarf can't camoflage. Do you find you're not wearing this jacket because you have something very similar that you like more? If that is the case, then maybe you should give it up.

I was wondering if you guys could help me with this wardrobe orphan. Last winter I bought this Boden coat in blue:
http://www.boden.co.uk/sale/co.....&gen=

I was still pregnant and it was on sale so that's my excuse for the lack of judgement. I do like the color a lot and I think it has some funky potential but not sure about the A-line silhouette and also what is the best way to accessorize it. Or should it go on ebay? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
