I've worked remotely for six months. When I realized my partner was seeing me in my pajamas at 4PM, I took charge. As a Level 3 WFH dresser, I purchased two types of Patagonia cozy pants to replace my pajamas all day every day. I also have some looser cut cropped pants (Mother, AG) that feel comfy.

Now for the party on the top. First step to getting dressed is the bra. Honestly even if I put back on my sleeping shirt, the structure of putting on undergarments transforms things to work-wear. I find that I am gravitating to the non t-shirt tops in my wardrobe. In an office, I might have worn a t-shirt with a jacket. However, on Skype, I'm not wearing a full on leather jacket, so a woven top with sleeves, and especially those with a collar feel the best. I like an interesting neckline and something that's not crew neck.

I like your wardrobe and your finds; if it were I adding a few things to your one and done shirt looks (that's genius description, btw), I'd keep an eye out for different shapes and necklines of the tops, like in your Banana Republic wrap effect top. See if you can find some patterns that you love. To me that BR wrap top feels more elevated than a simple cut T, no matter how high quality the simple Ts are. A quality t is not to be underrated, but they still feel a bit like casual wear when we're seeing each other from the collarbone up.

I am giving myself permission to live in gear if I want to - or similar. I am taking short walks, doing chores intermixed with work. So a similar approach.

I see the odd pretty thing haunting me and I may change my mind.

Big hug from NZ!!

I hear what you’re saying.
I think a merino sweater fills the same need for me.
It’s funny: I have tried hoodies and sweats with dressier pants, and it feels too casual. It seems like I need some wool on top, or something dressier on top (just slightly dressier, mind you) to feel like myself when out in the world.

I wear Columbia Anytime pants. They are hiking pants without all the zippered pockets. They stretch and so are very comfy. My strategy is the pants plus a tee. At home I wear some light fleece. If I go out I add a jacket and interesting shoes/boots. If I’m dog walking, a jacket and walking shoes. This way I’m not changing clothes all the time. Of course now I’m just in the pants and fleece all day.

Hi friends, and happy Friday! Hope everyone is doing alright and keeping spirits up during this crazy time!

I had a very helpful insight thanks to Angie's level dressing post. She noted the way to bridge levels 1 & 2 might be (for example, to swap out a cozy cardi for a smart blazer, to level up from WFH gear to a meeting.

For my lifestyle, I need a similar 'one piece level-up' strategy to go from lifestyle-activewear to polished casual wear. Basically the key difference is a swap from leggings or sweats to jeans. Here I've been leaning on my t-shirts a lot, and I'm so glad I bought a few nicer ones this year! Because my active/wellness lifestyle components consists of lots of gentle activities - walking, yoga, meditation, which I tend to sprinkle through the day when I have free time, I don't get super-sweaty. So a 'one and done' t-shirt (i.e. not a basic that relies on layering) is perfect, because all I have to do is get dressed in the a.m. with the t-shirt and leggings, and then pop on jeans later in the day when my activities are done. I can easily pop the leggings back on if needed later in the day. Not that it's a hardship to change a top and pants (I obviously do for sweaty workouts!) but this little formula just makes it seem easier and less fussy.

So - I shall be on the lookout for a few more 'one and done' t-shirts, with flattering shapes or colours, and digging into my t-shirt pile to make use of some of the ones I haven't lately.

That was very long for a simple thought, yikes! But thanks for reading if you got through it!
