Your closet looks wonderful! I have done something similar earlier this year. Many things went to charity, some 'maybe item's' went back but on the far left side of my closet. If I don't wear them in the next 12 months, they will have to go to charity.

That's one organized wardrobe!!! Looks great!
p.s. I love that jacket with the black trim -- I think you posted it on a old thread. I love it.

It sounds like you want a "smart casual" wardrobe -- Angie has some blog posts you can look up, and I think the MOTG (mom on the go) formulas would work for you too, even if you are not a mom.
It sounds like you are well on your way to more style!

I did sort through everything yesterday. I cleared the whole lot out before beginning the process. All the things I really liked and that fit me could return directly to my wardrobe. Then I sorted through the rest and made different piles.

#1 This is what I'm throwing away. It's mostly old underwear, pyjamas, socks, T-shirts and tops that were in a bad condition.

#2 This is the pile of the tings that didn't fit me anymore or were frumpy or anything else. I will leave this as it is until August when I'm going to go home to my parents. Then my mother and sister can decide if they want to keep anything from it.

#3 That's how my wardrobe looked this morning. In the textile shopping bag you can see are all my tights, I still have to sort through them today. I love the way it looks now!

Another thing I did was sort through all my bags and I found several I will give to my sister. This way I had room for other things where the handbags used to be and I could take my gear out of the wardrobe and store it there.

Some of my T-shirts and tops got demoted to pyjamas/loungewear. There are another five things that still have to be altered, I'm going to do that soon. And I had maybe five items that wear too tight by a small margin, I stored these in a box out of the way.

What I learned:

+ I have no skinny jeans or leans that fit me.
+ I have no winter coat, so that will be the most important purchase this autumn.
+ I probably need to replace most of my tights.
+ Most of my favourite sweatshirts and my three cardigans get worn a lot and they probably need to be replaced fairly soon.
+ I need some nice, warm knit things for next winter. I only have one jumper that's acceptable and I can't wear this one with my skirts.

And the most important conclusion:

+ I'm still buying things that are too casual for what I really want to look like, if I'm honest.

I know that I originally said I would sort according to hapiness factor. But here's the thing: it was surprisingly easier than I thought to be strict with myself during the cleanup and I threw many things out without a second thought. Maybe it was the right time!

I have a question about four items I'm going to ask in another thread.

Wonderful idea! I love lists, so they work well for me, but if they aren't your style then I wouldn't worry too much about making one. Even doing a quick count (5 pants, 6 skirts, 10 tops, etc) can be helpful.

I've recently found a couple of bloggers with small wardrobes that might be inspirational to you (they certainly were for me!): http://www.deadfleurette.com/2.....ation.html
Is it the color, the silhouette, the cut, etc? Same thing for the things you love. This information is invaluable!

In the thread "How much in your wardrobe are you really happy with?" (see here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....osition-26) I stated that I'm feeling happy about maybe 20% of my clothes and that I still have many things that could be tossed out if I'm strict with myself in matters of size, fit and condition.

Well, I have to tidy up the mess that is my wardrobe anyway, so I thought I would try to sort through it again this weekend. But instead of organizing it according to type I will try to organize it according to the happiness factor. I want to try how far I come with just the things I like most so that I maybe will be able to clean some things out in the future without being too anxious about the whole process.

I'm going to post some pics when I'm finished. Or maybe I could make a list, too? Do you think this could work?
