Star, let me know if you do give it a try - I’d love to have a buddy in this venture!

suntiger, I can vouch for it being very easy to use on an iPhone.

rachey, I’m extremely lazy and hoping that will work to my advantage here. My goal is to get more wears out of my existing clothes. This will give me an incentive to rewear an item that’s already in the database! (It works when I’m trying to clean up my diet - I’ll skip a snack if I’m going to have to go to the trouble it log it. Lol)

Sloper, Excel would be a great tool for tracking. But my copy is so old it’s no longer supported so I wanted to find a lower cost option now that I don’t get Excel upgrades through work.

nemosmom, Stylebook seems like a good program. I used it long ago and it was buggy in those early days. I probably should have given it another look.

I have been using stylebook for tracking, but it's not a db. It does break down CPW when you record an outfit or item on the calendar...

I use Excel, and entered everything in a burst of energy/guilt last year. It's helpful to remind me what I have, but I don't track wears. I'm at home 98% of the time, and for that it's a small batch of very casual tees and bottoms.

I did track wear when I worked - and that was very helpful. That was Excel too.

Cool! I admit to being lazy and would need to hire someone to do this for me. Now why I think it’s less work for me to scroll back through my posts here is anyone’s guess! Haha :)

I should at least consider turning my post pics into Finds, right?

Thanks for sharing this. I have a basic typed up list of all my items and then update the recorded number as I wear. This may be just what I need. I will investigate more later.

I know many of you have a system for keeping track of your clothing inventory, how many wears per item, cost per wear, etc.

I’ve always been intrigued by that practice, but overwhelmed at how to get started. I knew I would want to include photos of items and found putting together a spreadsheet that includes images to be more than I was willing to tackle. None of the commercially available closet apps seemed useful for my purpose.

Then I discovered that Margaret of mgetsdressed has put together a terrific database in Airtable and makes it available to anyone who would like to use it. Once items are entered it allows you to assemble them into outfits. It automatically calculates number of times worn, cost per wear, and other useful info. See https://mgetsdressed.com/wardrobe-tracking/

I’ve entered my last few purchases and today I entered my first outfit into the database. I did choose a day when I wore something really simple (dress and sandals). But once I saw how easy it was I added my accessories, too.

I don’t know how long I’ll stay with this, but I can imagine it will provide some useful information.
