Gigi, that’s an interesting thought about the brooch. I think that for myself I find the big metal buttons on a denim jacket to be too much in competition with a brooch. I’m fairly minimalist when it comes to anything 3D.

Liesbeth, yes, you understand the question. I’m certain that the new denim, medium blue all cotton with pink hibiscuses shiny copper buttons and snug fit does not compete for function in my wardrobe with my existing denim jacket. The older one is dark blue, oversized fit, polyester and spandex added, muted copper buttons. The older one is a bit thinner and more flexible and better over bulkier items.

As far as the other ideas, I’m working on them one step at a time. I’ll report back.

I vote: if they would get a lot of use without turning your other, similar wardrobe workhorses obsolete, go ahead. If they would replace otherwise great items you already own and aren’t tired of, then maybe don’t..?

If you want more ornamentation on your denim jacket, you could try adding a brooch.

I haven't looked at the responses above, but if you can get the items in question with free shipping and returns, I would go ahead and order them. When you get them and try them on, you might get more clarity.

Texstyle, Sorry I missed your reply earlier. I’m wondering how you are feeling about this blazer from Old Navy, now that a few days have passed. I’m debating whether I want to get a lighter colored blazer for summer.

So far I decided to purchase a denim jacket with embroidery from F21. It is unfortunately not listed on their website. I was wanting a bit more ornamentation than just plain denim, but the bomber with beading seemed too fussy. The jacket I got will work for very casual looks, but I’m still looking for other more polished versatile toppers.

@Kathie, I decided to give the cold weather item a try. It’s a light weight short black puff jacket styled/shaped like a Moto jacket. Michael Kors on Zappos. I’ll make a Find if it’s any good. I have a down hooded vest which is getting a bit grungy around the collar. Disguisable with a scarf, but less than exciting. This would replace the vest as streetwear in the sense that I would wear them in the same circumstance. The vest is Lululemon and is still fit for outdoor adventures. I can’t deal with the weight and stiffness of real Moto jackets. I’ve tried a cotton faux Moto but it wasn’t warm enough to be useful. So I think it’s unlikely something else would be a crossover in the right way.

@Nina, I apologize for being unclear. I was trying to describe each jacket filling a unique hole. I was not asking which one fills the one hole the best. Clearer?

Barbara Diane, Jacket number three is a dressy bomber with beading, and while in principal it could be very versatile, I feel like in practice I’d be too afraid of beads ripping off to wear it without wanting to save it only for special occasions.

Jacket number two is a white denim jacket. I have a dark blue denim jacket which I wear sometimes, but the new one would be shorter to go better with dresses. I like having a dark one as a spring fall coat over sweaters, but I don’t like it in the summer.

I think that the Moto and denim are worth at least trying. The beaded bomber is too delicate for non special occasions wear for me. And too casual for a true special occasion.

Budget is somewhat arbitrary. I’d rather spend the money later, for fall fashion, but I don’t feel like I should wait just for the sake of waiting, as there isn’t any noticeable effect on the Jun/July budget. I think I had a few strokes of luck with a couple of fall /winter items that I’ve already bought, so I’m not going to need to spend as much, or get as many other fall items, as I had initially feared.

I have a weak spot for toppers and have to admit to not using them nearly as much as I think I will. But I still love them. I'm holding this inexpensive but still nice pinstriped linen blend soft blazer right now with tags on, knowing I love the way it feels and fits but wondering if I will really wear it. I like this type of thing to wear when I go into cold AC in the summer. But it does wrinkle being mostly linen so I keep wondering if I can live with the wrinkling factor.

Without knowing more, it seems the first two would be the most useful. What makes you want the third one that will get less use? Is it special in some way? Will you use the new toppers instead of something that is already in your closet? If so, are they enough of an improvement to warrant the money? And is your budget arbitrary or strict; if it is strict is there something you foresee needing the money for down the road so you should wait?

If the one for colder months fills a wardrobe hole, or might be a replacement by the time colder months are here, then I’d get it. Otherwise, I’d prioritize the one you can wear now, and see what turns up later for fall/winter fashion.

Are they all your best colors?
I normally try to narrow down in similar cases - if selecting from 3 options > "one must out". In most cases I do not like all of the candidate items equally.
But try to purchase the one(s) that will get the most wear > regardless of the price then

Oh Thistle that helps. My shopping brain is tuckered out. One would get worn two or three times a week for the warm 6 months of the year. The other would get worn to what averages out to about the same for the colder half. The third would get worn maybe every other month. Yes, I think that one is a case of sale goggles meets fantasy lifestyle. Thanks.

I’ve scouted out online three slightly dressy toppers ranging from lightweight to quite warm. I think would get a lot of use. They aren’t a direct replacement of anything but would be I think good completer pieces. I can afford them, but I have enough toppers to look fairly presentable and keep warm. If I hadn’t just stocked up on summer items shoes underpinnings and a puffer coat sale item, I would go ahead. But it’s feeling like too much shopping, but maybe not actually too many clothes. Thoughts? Thanks.
