I just do what I do with all my boots and shoes -&nbsp;wear them around the house for a while just to make sure they'll be tolerable on my feet, and then gradually put them through more paces to break them in with everyday wear. Although I jumped right in and wore these for a full day, including 4+ miles of walking! My feet were tired by the end of the day, but certainly nothing that wouldn't be unusual for wearing many other shoes for that much walking.&nbsp;</p> <p>I wonder if a leather cream might help -- something that softens and conditions the leather just a bit to offset any stiffness in the uppers. You might want to give that a try if your boots feel stiff on your feet. My other two pairs are Lucchese. The tan ones I've had for probably 7 years, and they're getting to the point where I should probably get the heels resoled. They are very comfy and have taken a beating but are actually aging really nicely. The second pair of Luccheses I bought three years ago and they had issues with the finish. I actually returned them to the store where I bought them (in Portland, OR) to have the finish fixed. Well, it was better afterward but never perfect -- they are a very dark red/black with a bit of a glossy finish, and I think something was flawed with the dyeing/finishing process because they scratch easily. I decided to just live with it and embrace the RATE aspect of them, but it did make my husband and I wonder about whether the quality had taken a hit. </p> <p>Just from shopping this time around, I'm pretty impressed with what I see of the quality of both brands. Old Gringo seems a bit more focused on fashion styles, with more options that have embroidery, bold colors, studs, etc., and Luccheses are a bit simpler in design. I actually would consider buying the same Lucchese tan boots I have, in a different color.
