Waiting and sitting on your hands is a very good strategy, which I try to employ, sometimes more successfully than others. It's tricky when shopping secondhand, because there is always just one of whatever it is I'm interested in that's in my size. So there's that sense of immediacy and scarcity which can mess with my head. A woman behind me in line said she just got it too. </p> <p>I’m glad I waited because I think I would have bought both the green velvet and the blue metallic at first try — but upon reflection I’m better off looking for some other item in that amazing blue. The mesh top is pretty clingy and I’m likely to feel self-conscious in it. </p> <p>Suz, hijack away! Those belts are so good! Most of my bottoms are black or neutral so a little color on top is great for me. I also have a way easier time getting a good fit from separates rather than a dress or jumpsuit. Talbots has velvet tuxedo flares, and I'll probably go try them on, but I'd rather not buy something new that I'll only wear once a year. I was also considering a top from Johnny Was. I could wear a glamorous silk tunic more often than velvet pants, and in more seasons than winter. But that's $$$ for me.
