I know what you mean when you have a favorite like that! I have my favorite navy blue cashmere cardigan and the dry cleaners "misplaced" it for about a week. I immediately ordered another one "just in case" and it was found, so I returned the other one.

Is there any way you can take it to a weaver or tailor or someone who can mend sweaters properly? I hope so.

It's happened to me on a few occasions, and it happened just a few weeks ago. It always angers me. I know exactly how you feel.

Of course! And if it's not an excellent repair it has to go because it's just too annoying.
But it's probably time to move on anyway, this will give people an opportunity to see you "new" again.
I wouldn't try to replace it though, I'd look for something different.

Yes, I totally identify and feel your pain. I've snagged many a sweater while cutting out the itchy but tightly attached label. 'Irrationally angry' is *exactly* how I feel! If you think the repair is too obvious, a good tailor or specialty knit shop might be able to help. And you are right: most of the time people don't notice a darn. Knits are fluid and always in motion on the body so fixes aren't as obvious. I hope you don't have to ditch this piece.

I feel your pain. I just nicked a new sweater (worn twice) with my sweater shaver. One moment in time! It's on the back and I doubt anyone will notice but I know it's there and the fact that it's new adds insult to injury.

Oh no! That's the worst. It's the marring of perfection. Have I told the story about when my best friend spilled his motorbike? He calls me up and as one we cried, *No! Not the leather jacket!* Lol.

I feel your pain. I snagged a fab new sweater on first wearing. I think there's a reason it's called "darning".

So frustrating. It happened to my prettiest sweater, that I always felt like a million bucks in. It still hurts a bit when I think about it. I tried to fix it, but was unsuccessful and I got rid of it. I feel your pain

Me. I get so disappointed when something like this happens. I try to fix the problem, but it is never quite the same. And even if other people might not "notice," I know it is there and it is in the back of my mind.

Best wishes on your future hunt.

How annoying, Mander. Isn't it always the way that the best things always get spoiled while those that don't matter so much go on forever? I'm sure the repair doesn't show to others, but I know what you mean - you know it's there and it's not the same any more. Good luck with finding a replacement if you think it's necessary.

I managed to snag my favorite black cardigan the other day, and when I tried to fix it by pulling the threads back through I managed to make a bigger hole! I darned it as best I could but I know the hole's still there. Grrr.

I'm really annoyed because I hunted for the perfect versatile cardigan for a couple of years before I bought this one. It's just the right length and a uniquely flattering shape. Sigh. Time to start hunting for another one, I guess!

Has anyone ever felt irrationally angry when something like this happens? It seems kind of silly to be upset about a cardigan, but dang it, it was the best one!
