Firstly, if I understand Boston weather it's similar to Toronto in that you will have approximately two hours of gorgeous fall vest weather followed by five months of dreary winter coat weather, so I'd shop to match the coat, not the vest. Camel leather footwear is so classic and sophisticated, you can wear it with any color imo, and it will add a light touch to your dark outerwear. They are a cool tone so I wear them primarily with black and blues. I like them because they lighten up my typically dark neutral outfits. Most of my wardrobe is cool toned so they seem to play well with everything. I have cognac booties as well but really only ever wear them with jeans. Mine are dark at the toe and lighter on the main boot, a really neat looking kind of vintage look. The problem is, the dark parts scuffed very early on, and now they look shabby. I've tried polishing with neutral polish, but I don't know how I would actually restore the color to the parts that have scuffed. So, while the boots are durable, the stain on this particular color was not so durable, in my experience. that said, I do love the color and the way it goes with brown, black, taupe, navy, burgundy, denim, charcoal gray. I try not to let it get that far though. )</p> <p>I'm kind of surprised you all are mostly down on camel or think it's hard to match. My wardrobe is mostly neutrals and I feel like, camel looks great with black and camel looks great with a lot of grays, but dark/chocolate brown doesn't generally look great with gray. I could be totally wrong in that, though.</p> <p>Anyway, I think I'm ruling out the dark brown. They're pretty and they are what I originally went looking for (and they'd look awesome with the blush vest) but they aren't making my heart sing. &nbsp;I might be veering towards the gray brown. I see what some are saying about grays being hard to match, but honestly, in the 15 years I'm likely to have these boots, I probably will be able to find plenty of outfits they would go with. (I was gonna say 25 years, but the CNAs at the nursing home will probably flat out refuse to pull high boots onto me. ) It's just such a pretty and unique color and, like I said, I might not be able to get it next year or 5 years from now, while Frye will probably always make these boots in camel f I decide down the line I really want them. The dark brown are nice (pic 2). But I was immediately drawn to the camel (pic 1). &nbsp;Frye also make a gorgeous unusual gray (pic 3) which is really in between brown and gray that I love and that I think is very versatile. &nbsp;For reference, these boots are also currently available in black, "whiskey", and dark red. I already own black and cognac-y tall boots and while 15 years ago I would have gone for the dark red in a heartbeat, I seem to be over red shoes completely at the moment.</p> <p>So! I would just go ahead and buy the camel boots as they are, as I said, the ones that made me go "wow..." BUT I am also currently super enamored with my blush puffy vest (pic 4) which I can't wear with camel boots. OTOH, puffy vest season in Boston is relatively short while winter coat season is interminably long and my winter coats are black and olive. Weigh in here, please? Camel boots because I love them best even though they don't go with all my outerwear? Dark brown boots because they go with all my outerwear and are also of the moment? Gray-brown boots because they go with all my outerwear and are so unusual, and also may be a color that eventually Frye stops making (like my creamy color) so I should buy them while I can?</p> <p>I am so undecided but I'd like to buy while they're on sale and I have the discount code so... </p>
