Try some shapewear that you can tuck the shirt tails into- either bike shorts or a skirt one. I have had success with that in the past.

What an excellent question. I'm certain there has to be some sort of magic involved. This is exactly the reason I never tuck anything in.

i had this yesterday! it was either vpl or vtl.

i've had it with wovens and with knits. i've had to tuck shirts into tights or control top hose. then i feel like an overstuffed sausage.

perhaps i should just size up?!?!

I would love to know the answer to this! I'm assuming the skirt is woven and not knit, right Tara? I have a knit pencil skirt and it's impossible to avoid the VTL no matter what top is tucked into it...

I would really like to tuck my denim shirt into a pencil skirt. Problem is, the shirt is quite long and creates unsightly "bunching" or "VTL" (Visible Tucking Lines) under the skirt even when I pull it really taut underneath and make sure it lies flat. You can see the lines across my backside and it looks really off.

I know lots of you successfully tuck button down shirts and other tops into skirts and pants...what are your tips and tricks for creating a neat line doing this?
