Late to this also; the styling puts the puffer into your zone and the color/fit looks good. Initially, the capsule shaped quilting was putting me off for you (combined with lighter color it seemed to lack that bit of Janet edge), but worn with your other pieces, it works well and adds another option for changing up your winter wear. Concur that puffers are tough! Also like the non-puffer coat on you. Looks comfortable with nice lines and amenable to great wardrobe pairings.

Okay, I am super late to this and have not read all the comments but I really like it once you've styled it with your stuff -- as i knew I would. My only reservation is that zipper because on coats of that length it can be a deal-breaker for me. On the other hand, it's not that hard to change out a zipper! The colour is unique and I think it can be wonderful to have a light and/ or bright puffer -- I'm in the market for such a thing myself.

I am late, but also really like it styled with the scarves. I thought in the first pics that the colour was too insipid for you but styled I have totally changed my mind. I prefer the metallic boots but like the black boots well enough also. A splash of lighter colour in your cold dark winter would be lovely and cheering.

This has been really helpful, everyone -- thanks! I will leave the ultimate decision until my alternate selection arrives, and hubs gets home from Texas to give his opinion. Every time I wear anything in the turquoise-aqua-seafoam color range, he compliments me, so we'll see if this color strikes his fancy. I really trust his eye to confirm my feelings on something I'm considering.

I like it WAY better styled! #1 and #7 are my faves - I think it is the high-contrast (#1 with the scarf and #7 with your hair) and I love how the black boots bookend your hair and top. Various dark columns would be magical.

Thanks, all!

Lyn, I don't own white jeans anymore, or grey for that matter -- my most recent pair of grey jeans got kind of worn out, and they were skinnies, which I'm not buying any more of. I have a pair of soft black moto jeans that are getting worn a LOT. And yes, you're on my wavelength with the suggestion of black jeans -- I have some black jeans and pants, which are exactly the kind of thing I'd like to have a colored puffer for -- so I'm not a giant black hole of black on black during this pandemic winter.

Aw, styling is everything! I confess, I didn't love it on you on the picties first posted, either. The post hiking outfit was too casual and blue for that. But love it here in your second bunch (including the black boots if puffer kept open and some more blacks peeking out from under to relate) but I see what Lisa says and think it is more about the lack of stronger edgier urban feel of a streamlined head to toe dark silhouette or a more contrasted monochromatic one we are used to see you in and love for you- than the exact color which I also love per se-but that much not with bigger amount of other blue hues. The scarves are tying great to the puffer could you try it with grey or white jeans to the metallic boots and ----or black jeans (to the black booties)?

Thanks again for all the feedback! Sorry I'm not responding to each individual comment right now, as I'm checking quickly in between some tasks, but I read and appreciate each one.

I held off on expressing my feelings about it so as not to color your impressions, but I do like it MUCH better styled. Styling it, even as loosely as this, shows me that it's one of those things to throw over one of my usual casual day outfits, which typically consists of dark neutral jeans and tee or sweater. Those are most likely worn with black or metallic boots, and my black floppy beret/beanie will likely factor into those outfits too. The snake print guitar strap with a black bag would tie things together also. The Minkoff backpack that I'm wearing out would be fine with it as well.

Yesterday I was feeling like the color might be too *pastel* for me as well, until today I looked at it with the McQueen scarf -- that scarf ties together the color with black and the dark skull motif, taking some of the sweetness out of the color.

Just to cover all the bases, I had a look around at various online retailers because I don't want to jump on the first appealing puffer I find. However, it's apparently not easy to find a non-gearish, lightweight, mid-length puffer in a somewhat fashionable/flattering style and a pretty-for-me color. I did place an order for the Sam Edelman coat Angie linked to as well, out of curiosity, since I have wondered how a silver/pewter puffer would work for me. I think if it's not TOO shiny and I don't feel like a spaceman, it could be nice. So I'll hang onto this while I check out a couple more options.

I wish the color were just a tad darker for you, as it reads kind of pastel to me. But it does look great with your eyes, and I love how it looks with your street clothes. The quilting pattern on it is unusual and looks chic. Nice length and fit. The lack of a two-way zipper would bug me a lot. For myself, I would probably hold out for a coat that was an even better color and with a two-way zipper, even if it meant waiting a year, because once I buy something like this, I tend to keep it for years and it would prevent me from buying the perfect puffer if one appeared later.

It looks great with the McQueen scarf in #1 and with the metallic boots. I don't 'get" it with black boots - they don't seem to tie in anywhere. I'm still very ambivalent and think you could do a lot better with something funkier (with contrasting trim /zippers ) as previously mentioned.

I LOVE IT. The boots seal the deal. #1 and #2 are KILLER. I like it best with the same scarves you do.

I'm going to be in the minority. I like it more than your black puffer in #11, which is KILLER too! The seafoam is magical with your hair and eyes. Very unique.

I like it Janet. It is not as edgy as the black Lauren. I find the colour soothing and having built in a few light neutrals into my winter wardrobe I have enjoyed them both for the contrast with dark items and a change up.

OK! No makeup or attention to hair (post-hike), but I pulled on the coat over a super basic black top and jeans ensemble. I tried a combination with bootcuts and metallic boots, and another with straight cuffed jeans and black boots. I also tried on various scarves with it, as they are a winter staple for me. I like it best with the two McQueen scarves.

For comparison, I included two photos at the end that show my most comparable coats: the long black Lauren puffer and the grey mid-length Nautica jacket.

I welcome your impressions!

I’m already dressed in hiking gear to meet up with friends for a socially distanced hike in a half hour, so no try on pics. However, it occurred to me to put on my beloved long black puffer, and another mid-length casual coat I have that I really love. It’s from Nautica from god knows how many years ago — I think it was a Nordstrom Rack purchase? It’s a great cut and length on me but it’s dark grey. I’ve no intention of letting either of those coats go at this point, but the idea of augmenting the collection with a more cheerful color really appeals to me.

Anyway, I pulled out those coats to take a look at what makes them work so well for me. Quilting pattern and a slightly fitted silhouette are factors, to be sure, but I had a doh! moment realizing that I prefer *not so puffy* coats and jackets. Or if they are puffy there must be other structure (I have a short white puffy from Zara that I love for the cute factor but it goes only over certain outfits).

I’ll put them all on later and take pics to illustrate what I’m talking about.

I would keep looking until you find something you know looks great. I think the waisted cut and angled quilting are the details to look for but this isn’t quite right.

I really love the colour on you, fit and style look good too, and I've no doubt you can style it to make it "100% you", but of course, you have to be sure that you love it 100% :-)

Personally I find double zippers kind of a pain (they seem to stick and get fiddly - maybe mine are just not good quality) so prefer not to have them unless absolutely necessary, like for a coat knee length or longer. My go-to down puffer is about the length of this one and is fine with a plain zipper.

I like the color and the style of the coat although after reading the comments I do see what the others see about the color on you. But so much would depend on how you style it.

Ooh get the pretty green Bernardo one!
I do like the color of this one but not sure about the shape of the puffs- almost like a bunch of hands the way they curve.

i have to admit that not having the double zipper on outerwear of that length is a deal breaker for me. Make sure you do a walk and sit test, remember that at some point, you will go back to driving and going out again, is the coat comfortable for moving around in?
