I love the faux fur but I predict that it will be too long for you. I have a bulky faux fur vest that is not warm AT ALL. It is relatively short and doesn't fasten, but still!!!

FWIW, for a maximal look, I can envision you in an embroidered waistcoat (vest).

Thank you for responding. Right now it's still in the 90's so I have time to contemplate. I think the two vests show the style extremes that I am drawn to. I was ready to order the JCrew when I saw Angie's post and realized how different it was than the trends she showed.

Joy: I probably should order both and actually try them on. Good suggestion.

Angie: I thought you would choose Faux fur and I can see this one working with black - dark and romantic?

Firecracker: They are very different styles. I've been wearing long and drapey so either one is a big step out of my comfort zone. Maybe I should look for something more boho. I'm trying to be more thoughtful in my purchases and this is a good example of the trouble I have in making decisions.

Tanya: In the past, I would have never considered the faux fur but have been trying to figure out how to add the maximal trend to my wardrobe. I think that this faux fur would work with black to add a maximal look.

Arizaphale: You made me laugh. Thank you!

JAileen: You're right. Maybe I need a third option, a fantastic boho vest that goes everywhere.

peacechick: I really like the first vest too, but it is not maximal. But if the maximal trend lasts five years, I will get a lot of wear out of the faux fur.

Mirjana: I've never had fur or faux fur, so this might be a good first step.

El Cee: If I hadn't spent all of my budgeted allowance this month, I probably would order both and maybe another style that is both sporty and trendy, if something like that exists. I'd like to dip in to the maximal style and thought a vest would be a good way.

Another vote for faux fur -- trendy, fun and unique. The quilted jacket is also nice -- as peacechick just said, it is "outdoorsy chic" and probably more practical. It really depends on your needs. Do you want something more sporty/casual or something that is more of a fashion statement?

I actually like the grey vest a lot. It gives me a Barbour jacket vibe, so kinda more upper class outdoorsy chic. The fur vest is definitely fun and trendy but I have the same feeling as JAileen.

I had looked at the grey vest earlier, and like it a lot, but I live in a casual town. Very casual. The fur one is pretty cool, but I couldn't wear it twice a week like the grey one. Like Joy said, people will comment on it. "Oh you're wearing that fur vest again. I really like it."

They're totally different. The first is sporty and good for weekend events, and the second is high fashion and will be handy if you ever land a date with Big Bird. ;-P

They are both stylish, but have different vibes and different places in a wardrobe. The quilted vest is casual and relaxed while the faux fur is chic and trendy. So I would go with whichever vibe fits more what you are going for.

I think of the quilted one as an athleisure look. Not a bad thing, but quite casual. To be chic, I think I'd go with a faux fur.

I have a vest similar to the second one. It is a big statement. I get compliments on it but always feel a bit self concious wearing it. The quilted flannel looks more sporty and casual. It just depends on how and where you want to wear the vest. Can you get both? Don't get 2 unless you love it.

I've been thinking about adding a vest to my wardrobe and had just about decided to order the JCrew quilted flannel until I read Angie's blog today. To be stylish, I guess I should order the faux fur. Which would you choose?
