I have the oxblood Munro booties, which I love! I would probably have a black pair first, but if I weren't finding a great pair, and I saw a burgundy pair that were amazing -- I wouldn't hesitate!

Seems like people think black would be a smarter choice than burgundy at this time. And more people associate burgundy with brown hmmmm. I really wish I could find another black boot I liked ad much so I could get these in burgundy.

Jules, no worries about overuse. I won't be wearing skirts more than twice a week if that frequently.

Personally I think red/burgundy goes with everything (well, at least all the colors that I own, but keep in mind I don't wear pastels, beiges, or brown). I have burgundy Docs and burgundy (maybe more like red) Fluevog booties. I would err on the side of red/purple undertones rather than brown personally but that's probably just my dislike of brown talking.

Burgandies I feel are a good way to merge a color that looks like brown but isn't. Fun spin on a neutral when it's the right hue. In speaking of matching, aside from the clothing colors and stuff, I think that they bookend really well with brunettes or some darker hues of the redhead spectrum (it flows better with them I think than blondes or pitch black).

I'd love to have a burgandy pair but I'm still trying to fill the whole necessary black one first >.> Priorities..

See, burgundy is the new brown!

Seriously, I don't as much like the bright burgundies except in smaller doses or peeking out from pants, but the deep brownish-blackish or antique burgundies, in leather, are plonk-worthy.

I love my burgundy booties and am wearing them with just about anything. But I had tall red (not burgundy) boots years ago, back when I only owned 1 pair/winter. People (men at work) commented A LOT that I wore them everyday. They liked them at first but got sick of them quick, and soon so did I. So without taking a close look at your pics, I am agreeing with K that if you need to wear them very often, and they are an obvious reddish burgundy, I would probably choose something else unless you are someone who is very comfortable picking a statement for the season.

I have a pair of burgundy booties that get much more wear than the black pair - no burgundy tall boots only 2 black and one brown - but I wear the booties much more often than any of the tall boots - we'll see as winter progresses - I would LOVE a pair of tall burgundy - and think they're much more user friendly for my wardrobe than black

@unfrumped, ha love the cross-post! Actually, number 3 is a boot I already own that I deem slightly casual for work, but acceptable, normally worn with other brown items that seem to have migrated out of my wardrobe in the past year.

@caro, good insight!

@K, I have owned a pair of tall burgundy boots before even! They were hardly worn because they were too tall and not very comfortable, but I tended to stick to the earthy side of the spectrum when wearing them (substituting for brown). I think this may have had to do with the brown heel.

I'm thinking I would reach for a black boot more, but surprisingly have found very few that I like in my price range. This one does come in black, but then I was struck by this burgundy color. Decisions are so hard!

I love burgundy as a neutral. If I had to buy one color as a dressy boot, though, I would buy black unless I knew that I was in love with burgundy. My black and nude colored boots and booties always seem to get much more wear than my colored ones, no matter how much I love the color. If the color was more of a deep purpley red sort of brown, I would be pushing hard for them, because I know from personal experience how fantastic that shade of burgundy is. The one you posted looks pretty red to me and I've found that the statement my redder booties make is a little strong for me for day to day. However, your mileage may vary! Have you ever owned burgundy flats or heels?

I have a pair of oxblood casual biker style boots & they look great with grey, navy & black. If I was a skirt person I would buy burgundy or oxblood tall boots too

Not a tall boot person but I think they are versatile. Remember the whole spectrum of burgundy so that if you are putting a toe in the water, a color more like #3 is very subtle and rich and functions very neutrally.

I think it can also depend on how you like your proportions and legline with tights to look, and whether they work with that and add interest vs. whether you feel chopped up, as much as whether they are versatile. So you could get an idea of that just by trying some on (don't have to be "the ones") with some of your outfits and see if you generally like the mix. From what you describe, I would think they would look great.

I know some of you ladies have been wearing burgundy booties recently, so I wanted to get some input. This also ties into the question earlier about coordinating skirts, tights, and boots. I want to get a pair of tall boots on the dressier side to wear with skirts to work.

Background info: I already have a brown and a black pair of flatter more casual boots (pics 2 and 3), which could be worn to work in a pinch, but IMO something dressier is warranted. I do also have an old pair of brown Bronx tall boots that are dressy enough if not super on trend.

The skirts/dresses I would wear during the winter time are either black, grey, or navy blue (I do have a fuschia skirt if one would wear such a thing in the winter). Anyways, I have navy, brown, black, and grey tights. My tops are largely black, blue, red, purple or green.

So my question is how versatile is a burgundy boot? Can it be worn with colors on the warm and cool side of the spectrum? Am I better off just getting black?

Thanks!
