I do prefer my boots about an inch taller. I don't think they have to hit your knee to wear with skinnies. Especially if a boot slouches. I think the slouchy factor leaves room for a shorter height in the boots. I just got my Dark brown Veronica Frye boots. They are a little narrow on me, but I'm pretty sure it's the right size and they will stretch some since they are leather. But, they don't come up to my knees.
