I have the straight version as well, one in black and one in black and white stripes and wear them pretty much only in the summer. I wear them with a black VC peplum short sleeved knit top, a sheer high/low top with a camisole underneath, and a sleeveless cobalt blue AT top. As long as you have a few tops to wear with the skirt, I think that you'd get a lot of use out of it!

The mini stripes will read as a false solid from a distance. The navy & beige stripe is currently on sale I believe. Stripes should hide pilling more than a solid, but probably skews more casual/sporty.

I don't have the ruched version but have three VC tube skirts - on black and 2 patterns. I love these for warmer weather. I am not on team tuck so tend to wear with a drapey top or a tank with a third layer for office.
I have not sported them in an truly casual manner but you could with the right top - maybe just a simple tank and the skirt and sandals?
Very versatile skirt.

Do it! I have three or four skirts of this kind, and I love them. I find them really versatile. I find any top with a bit of slouch in it works. Either sheer, or bulkier. I also like the skirts with a trimmer long top, and a denim jacket on top.
I wear all of mine, but I wear a lot of solid colours, but I must say the tube skirt is something I wear happily with a pattern, I think they are fun

I have this one in a different print and wore it to my sons graduation with a black sleeveless hi-low top. Looked good and was very comfortable :-)
It looks equally well with a simple t-shirt or form fitting draped top.

Mine is the straight version -- not ruched. I have navy, cobalt (solids) and a black and white stripe -- and I wear them ALL the time in summer.

Some options below. Some are older than others and some do have toppers. But it's more for proportions -- you can get a similar effect without.

You can dress them up, you can dress them down.

I have a similar skirt from a local store. IMO, the solid black is more versatile, but it goes with an amazing variety of tops. Like was already mentioned, sleeveless tops - especially high-low styles - work well, as do sleeveless tops and light blazers for cooler or work environments. From Nordies, why not order it and then try to style it at home? They are fabulous with returns, so you aren't really risking anything by giving it a try.

Hi jj. I have 3 (!) skirts like this from metalicus (an Australian brand). I find them very useful in summer. I wear with sleeveless loose high low tops (hitting at the hip at the front and lower at the back) or sleeveless drapey wrap tops. For what it's worth I prefer the printed ones (I have a plain black one but I wear that the least) but that could just be a personal preference. I also agree that there can be an issue with riding up so you might want to check that out.

I don't have the ruched version, just the straight cut one, in both black and a leopardish print , but many other forum members have it. That said, I only wear mine in warm weather and find it pretty easy to style with any looser fit t or tank (in any fabric or knit) . I think there have been some ensembles in the blog over the last year that include the skirt - check back in the archives a bit. I will say both of mine have a tendency to roll up at the hem a bit (it's unfinished, so be prepared for that) and I'm not terribly thrilled with that. I find myself fiddling with it and trying to roll it down when I'm sitting where my legs show.....

Anyways - super easy to style and wear -it's a good all-round skirt!

Have you tried searching pinterest? I'm not sure what top(s) would go best with that skirt, but I think a drape-y shirt sleeve top could work.

I've had Vince Camuto's ruched tube midi-skirt in my Nordie's cart on-and-off for ages. Y'all look amazing in it (ahem, Lisa and Shannon) and I know tons of other YLFers have it, too. (It may be one of the 'blockbusters' that are 'replenished,' as reported by WSJ and posted by someone earlier this week.) BUT-- I know Angie's rule is: don't buy a skirt unless you know what top you'll wear with it. I REALLY want the skirt, but I just bought a cute A-line skirt that I can't figure out how to wear and I don't want a repeat of that. But I want to look as amazing as Lisa and Shannon and I really want that VC skirt.

SO: can y'all help out with some additional ways to wear the skirt, without a long-sleeve topper? (It's HOT here in Texas now and I can't wear long sleeves.) I could just wait until this fall, but if I could get the right top, I'd love to have a wearable skirt for the summer.

Finds/links greatly appreciated but any general advice on (1) how YOU wear the skirt and (2) what silhouettes do/don't work with it would be super.

Also, if I do buy it, which pattern is the most versatile? I like the mini stripes, but maybe all black is better? Is one of the B&W prints more flattering?

Thanks!
