I usually don't worry too much about focusing, but I either try to stand far enough away so you don't notice focus issues, or point the camera at an obvious point like a doorknob, then stand in front or next to it.</p> <p>I never use a tripod, I can balance my little Canon on books, cars, trees, rocks, etc. But the downside is the camera can wobble and fall. Which happened to me. Now mine is partially broken, I can only see the image through the viewfinder. I took the pics in the kitchen for a while and half the pics were blurry.
