Personally, roses and chocolate are great. There are also very romantic. Not every woman want jewelry. I am that kind of girl who do not love jewelry.

Thank you for understanding Shannon...

Anya yes I agree and he does do the other but also makes the effort on those commercial special days. I'm just dying for him to buy her some jewellery.

When it was dh and my 25th anniversary my mom gave us our gift a year and a bit early. A traditional something? Very to us...tickets to the Stanley Cup final our team was playing in... I'm nothing if not consistent.

don't know about management expectations in US, but I live in Europe and find good chocolate enchanting ( Good one, dark , organic, mixed interestingly like with sea salt and spice, or with almond flakes and lavender, or simply some good Belgian truffles). Flowers I love also, but I like when they are bought "without a reason" . I also buy them myself.
Come on , there are so many ways to a woman's heart. My fiancé never bought me "romantic" jewelery( except the ring) . I mean, he sometimes buys me some costume jewelery he finds cute, or that I've coveted and been to cheapskate. But when we were both students he used to organize treasure hunts, and I would find a flower , or some cute trinket.
But anyway there shouldn't be a special day to remind man to buy cute stuff for their girlfriends/wives. They should do that regularly:)

Oh my...even my 16-year-old son went to People's yesterday and bought a cute silver heart necklace with a diamond chip in it for his girlfriend. It was all he could afford $69) but he was determined to get her jewelry.

Can I kill my son? He's taking his lady to dinner and giving her roses and chocolates.

What about jewellery!!!???

Doesn't he know how much mom wants to help him with quality and price? Doesn't he know how the real way to a woman's heart is with diamonds? Or maybe pearls?

His lady is a lovely woman and model gorgeous. No idea why she didn't apply as a model for fashion week here...

Sigh...drat. I know, I know...what son wants his mom's input but geesh...
