Thank you for the information, Elizabeth P! And Sterling, that is interesting about packing a "Look." I find that the way Stylebook is set up is sort of opposite to how I make packing lists and seasonal capsules -- I want to define what I'm taking first and then play around with combinations, rather than building a collection outfit by outfit. Gosh it would be PERFECT if you were doing a build-as-you-go 30x30 though!

I really enjoy these posts about wardrobe tracking/management systems as they give me good ideas even if I don't use the particular app/system myself.

I used stylebook in the past- it was a lot of work to set up. Then it was very good, in terms of putting together looks with accessories. So I would have worked out the jewellery, shoes, scarf etc beforehand and it meant I got better use out of those items. It was also good for realising what I wore most (summer weight clothes) and what I did not need more of (winter knits and coats). And yes, great for packing.
Then my son accidentally deleted it, and I lost all the images I’d uploaded...and it took quite a bit of space up...so I never got back into it, after that debacle!

Hi efbgen that was me who uses pen and paper. I'm amused about your likelihood to organise the linen cupboard at the hospital!
I think for me, Stylebook would be more work than my paper. I'm not looking to make endless outfits in new mixes as many items look best in only 1-2 outfits. I'm trying to reduce the overall size by only buying really, really good choices in the future using all I have learned from YLF. I'm also culling gradually and can "see" what I have quickly glancing down my list. But for some YLFers who have WAY larger wardrobes than me, it might allow more fun playing.

No you can't, Sarah. I've wished you could do that as well. I'd also like to be able to add an outfit to a packing list, when you are in looks, instead of needing to be in the packing list and then grab the outfits... if you know what I mean.

Can you make outfits from within a packing list in the latest versions of the app? I used it for a while a couple years ago but it did not have that feature, so I found it really hard to work with capsules the way I wanted to.

I'm a huge Stylebook fan, and have been using it for almost four years!

Yes, getting started can be daunting, but there is no need to do it all at once. As mentioned, start with the outfit you're wearing. Save photos of anything you buy on line. then do small photo blitzes... a pile of sweaters one day, white tees another. Make sure you photos things on a background that is consistent and a totally different colour then the items, it makes it much easier to edit the photos within the program.

I use it for all kinds of things that it's not really designed for. The packing list feature is especially useful. One of my off-the-wall uses: at the beginning of a season, I'll make a packing list called "tops not worn spring summer 2018". I'll "pack" all the tops I MIGHT wear in that season, and delete them as I actually do. It's so easy to see what you are not reaching for... should reach for... or should get rid of. When doing my 30x30 challenge, I "packed" the outfits, so I could easily see what numbers I was at and what I'd chosen. As the days went on, I looked at the packing list to see what I could choose from. (obviously there was more planning than just this, but it was an easy visual)

The new "style stats" features are awesome.

It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good.

I echo Roxanna's recommendation to search here for threads to see what people have to say about it, and how they use it.

Roxanna, thanks for the tips, the thought of entering all my clothes has been rather overwhelming but of course, it does not have to be done all at once.

I did try it but it didn't suit me - but it is a cool tool. I think if you like technology and playing around and are organised it could be useful. I wasn't prepared to do the ground work.

I have StyleBook and use it daily. I use it to keep track of CPW, plan outfits for the week, determine which items I have not wore lately, & to keep track of my clothing budget. It has really helped me get the most out of my wardrobe.

I have Stylebook and LOVE IT. I love that I can use it on my phone or my desktop, put together different looks, save inspiration, even make packing lists! I've used it for almost a year now and it's changed the way I manage my wardrobe. It's highly visual and I find putting together looks particularly useful.

Don't let it intimidate you - you do have to enter all your clothes, but instead of doing it all at once, I enter my outfit every day. I just search for each item I wear on Google images and then paste it into the app. If I can't find it, I enter an item that closely resembles it. It's much easier than taking pictures.

Search the forum for Stylebook and you'll find some very useful posts about it from a while back.

I don't know...I understand it is hip, forward thinking and great use of current technology.......but .....
Is there not something to be said for just experimenting on the fly-LOL!
I am already told I am OCD on organization and that my dresser and closet look like Marie Kondo just left the house- I just think using the app will push me over the edge----- Can you see me organizing the linen closet at the hospital-OMG
But I do like an earlier post (sorry I forgot who) where a YLF Friend uses a pen and paper to track outfits and articles of clothing to calculate CPW. Don't think that would push me over the brink.....
Have fun testing your new toy (app).... I think it is great you have a friend you can talk fashion with face to face.

I use it on my iPad (iPhone too small of a screen to be of much use to me). Once I bought it, I wondered how I lived without it.

The visuals are fabulous. I can see in an instant what I have, how many I have, duplication, lopsided color schemes. I use to to develop outfits that I love. If I create a so-so outfit, I make notes as to why it did not work.

I fully endorse this app. Again, I wish I had bought it sooner.

I used it for a while on my iPad some years back but o found it a bit to labour and time intensive lol.

I am very active on Instagram and post my daily outfits there and I find that’s now a great outfit reference for me. Now if I’m having a what to wear moment I scroll through my feed to my remind me of what I have and what I might put together for that day.

I do acknowledge that Stylebook has had updates since I used it

Ok maybe i’m really late on this and everybody already knows it in and out and discussed it and here I am like a hair on a soup (like we say in French). Anyone has tried using the app Stylebook in their iPhone? Does it work for you? My friend made me get it, she says it’s wonderful, but I wonder if these are things we are doing anyway, and do we need an app for it? I just browsed through it a little and it seems to me no more than a way to organize pics ... or did you find it useful in other ways?
