I was so excited when I saw the first photos. Should add that I attended events at Kingsbury Hall, where the debate took place, many times in my youth. Concerts, plays, lectures, ballet and on and on. I attended the U 2 1/2 years then moved away, returning only for visits. I have always had a love for the mountains. I do remember how the cold winter wind swept down over the U of U campus though. And in those days, no puffer coats! And girls were generally expected to wear skirts. Kamala Harris has been in Salt Lake City for a few days getting ready for the debate. Oct 4 she walked uphill towards the state capitol on, what else? State street. Photographers caught her pausing at a staircase that was shared my grandparents and a neighbor.&nbsp;</p> <p>We loved this house. Didn't know as a kid that it was historic. Memories walking up to the Capitol building with Grandpa when I was a small child. Across the street, behind the house, was a steep cement staircase that went down to Memorial Grove. And the house itself was full of fun places for little girls to explore. They had a player piano that Grandpa would pump to play his favorite songs.&nbsp;</p> <p>The house was too much for my Grandma to keep up after he died and she moved to an apartment. Whenever I'm in Salt Lake and can find the time, I take a sentimental journey to 210 N. State and other family places.&nbsp;</p> <p>Kamala in white top talking to painters working on house next door. I didn't know it was called the Ellerbeck Home.&nbsp;</p> <p>##5&amp;6 show lots of aunts and uncles following Grandpa's funeral, and Grandma looking out the window of her home.&nbsp;</p> <p>Lots of fun memories and nostalgia for a simpler time and place. </p>
