Anna, try Levis 711 skinny. My daughter swears by them and I bought a pair. Substantial denim and a decent rise. Love the sweaters!

Clever you to grab those amazing artshirts from the men's department! And with tops like those, who will notice your pants anyway? Jeans shopping is the worst. When I find good ones, it's usually by accident, so stay open to serendipity! Like DonnaF, I've had some good luck in thrift shops. Speaking of serendipity: inspired by your post on the patchwork jeans/nude suede pump combo, I decided to order the $29 Sun & Shadow pair from the Rack, and I really like them, so thanks! Still looking for the right pumps . . .

Love those sweatshirts! Jeans shopping can be so ego deflating. Expense aside, I won't even try on premium denim because I have the sense that nearly all are cut for a very different body type than I have. I picked up a pair of MiH flares at Goodwill for $10 without knowing they retail for $200+.

You have such great gams; maybe this is the universe telling you that you should show them off!

Oh, I saw that Basquiat print in the women's section too (Alice + Olivia)-- but on a teensy crop top, for $250.

I'm kind of drawn to the Joy Division-esque sweatshirt, but I really don't need another sweatshirt since I bought that grommet one!

I am avoiding shopping for jeans (well, for most everything) at the moment, so I sympathize. I'm even a bit disappointed at the last jeans I bought at normally-reliable Lucky Brand last fall. Somehow the newer fabrication of the Lolita cut stretches and bags out more than the old ones I have. :-/ And I always like them because they actually provide tall lengths. Darn it.

I wish I had some good suggestions for you. I noticed in a couple of quick store visits lately that denim sizes stocked on the racks are topping out at 30 (at least around here), which is really disappointing. Some larger sizes seem to be available online, but it is such a hassle to order and try on multiple styles and multiple sizes.

I'm just making do with what I currently have, even though much of it is a bit snug at the moment.

I so hear you, Anna -((
And I'm sorry this jeans search is getting you down. I agree with Bella, but it can still be tough to deal with.

Have you looked at Gap? They have a few interesting options, and their denim usually goes up to a size 35 or 36.
http://www.gap.com/browse/cate.....rtment=136

For example, I could see you in the Archive re-issue pleated it pants.

The only thing I hate buying more than jeans is swimsuits - and living in Australia, you have to buy them regularly! Sometimes you just have to hang in there and hope that the perfect pair is just around the corner.

It truely is not you...you always look amazing because you have great style and will do so at any size or age. The Basquiat sweatshirts are wonderful.

Just chiming in to say that I hate jeans too . I spent a lot of money on a (what I thought anyways ) premium pair of jeans a couple of weeks ago because I no longer have anything that fits . And yes , I realize that I say this all the time , which means I am gaining weight all the time . Anyways , I am so excited to have some fancy new jeans , wear them twice and they are now too baggy and big . Not what you're talking about , I know , but still . I can't afford to be replacing jeans every month in an experiment to find a pair that fits . I'm still really ticked off .

Anna those jeans are impossible to judge at this angle, but are you sure they are no gos? What about unixex jeans like Levi's 501s? Of course men's jeans come in a whole range of sizes. And regarding those wide Madewell jeans, I actually tried them when they were on sale and I was having people come from the US and they fit weird. I still have them though because it was final sale.

I tried Madewell a few weeks ago. None of their current offerings worked. They had these great high rise black wide crops, basically similar to the Rachel Comey's. Unfortunately it flattened out my butt considerably, and just made me feel like crud.
I look occasionally online at JC Penney's because I get their emails, but nothing grabs me. Though they do have great sales. Today I looked for jeans, but nothing spoke to me.
Maybe I'll try Universal Standard.
This whole endeavor just heaps onto my low esteem at the moment.

Those look good from that angle. I have larger hips, but didn't like DL1961--too tight, rough texture, and a propensity to slip down my hips. In the summer, I discovered the AG Beau, and am a huge fan. It does run large. I am a true 30, but wear 28 in the Beau. It's a slim BF, not baggy, higher rise without looking high rise. Unlike the Dre, I've found the sizing consistent in different washes. It does stretch out a bit with wear, but they're super comfortable.
