You can also use a vinegar and water cloth (think baby wipe) and keep it in you purse in a plastic bag to use when out and about. You should be fine, I wear leather and even suede boots during the winter and we salt the heck out of everything around here from November to April! I clean them up at the end of the day and so far so good! </p> <p>I also buy "waterproof leather" but the sales persons always recommend treating it with spray just the same. I asked the salesman if I should treat them with a waterproofing spray and he said that, although they were "weatherproof," he would. I stayed out of puddles as much as I could and sprayed them when I thought about it, which wasn't often. I wore them practically every day, and they were fine for their first season. I still wear them every day, but this year, I'm spraying them regularly because one of the boots is no longer waterproof.
