Red/tan with grey is lovely together. I always wear my work trousers a tad roomier to avoid too much bum exposure at work.

I think all the pieces look great and I would follow Karie's advice to perhaps contemplate the alterations on the pants. How nice is it to be able to add a few pieces and feel so refreshed - yeah!

Way to be PPP! The Max Mara pants look great to my eye, I'm glad you passed on the trousers that made you feel less fab. Are they dragging at all in the back? It looks like you have a teeny bit of extra cloth in the front, but the rear photos don't show your shoes.

These outfits look very office-appropriate, and the fit on you is phenomenal!

I love the pants - they are gorgeous! The other items are also all great and in my opinion work well together.

I tried that second BR sweater but the colour was just "off" on me so I sent it back. It looks great on you!

Deborah, thanks! I was surprised by the quality of the Zara blazer, will definitely keep them in mind from now on.

Manidipa, I am with you on the comfort in the back - I have a pair of pants that is too tight in the back when I sit, these are much better.

sarah, the Clarks boots are Dara 3. They are waterproof and very comfortable (have already done one work trip in them, walked a lot and they were fine).

Karie, thanks! I don't sew so if this starts bothering me, I may take the pants to a tailor. Overall, these not only fit well from the front but also are comfortable so I might just leave them as is.

bj - yes, I was debating whether Max Mara was worth the price and then I figured I only buy one pair of dress pants a year at the most - why not buy a well fitting one?

I like all your outfit combos. Your pants look great from the front, and although they are slightly baggy in the back, I think it still looks OK.
There are alterations to fix the bagginess (I sew and do my own alterations). Do you sew? If you do, pm me and I will explain how to do the alterations, if not, take them to a good tailor (bringing a similar pair of pants that fits great is a good idea). Make sure it's a good tailor, though, not one that just wants to take in the side seams.

Red/tan definitely works here with the grey! I like this two-neutral colour scheme a lot.

All great pieces. I especially love the two sweater and the boots --- but the preference is only my personal style leanings making themselves felt, not speaking to the relative value of the garments per se.

FWIW, I have the same issue with trousers. I've tried for a more fitted behind, and find those are trousers that look great standing up but end up being not as comfy for sitting in! I wonder if some shapes of bodies actually require the extra room for movement, or if there is a very different cut required to work on said body shapes? Maybe Angie or someone with sewing experience can explain this...

I think all these peices look great. From the picture the red stripe works well with the grey pants. Those pants look like great quality and I find the cut very smart and attractive. Zara do amazing jackets and I think this looks like one that could become quite a workhorse for you. I think you make some great choices here.

One of my trousers had a similar problem (the waist was fine and the fit was great but from behind it just didn't sit properly) and I didn't wear them for around 2 years. Recently I gave it to the tailor along-with a pair of trousers that fit well and asked him to alter them according to the trousers that fit. The trousers fit much better after the alteration but I'm yet to wear them. I'm hoping next week I can wear them to work.

Yes, there is a bit of bagginess issue from the back. I seem to have this problem with a lot of trousers, at least in the photos, not sure why. Overall, I decided that the fit was much better than many other pants I used to have. Would be interesting to know if there is a tailoring trick that could take care of this.

The blazer looks great. I like the trousers too, however in my opinion they are a bit loose from the back. May be that's how they fit. They look really nice and chic from the front though. And he striped tops are always great to have.

I asked some questions recently about finding items to update my work wardrobe (needed a navy blazer, comfortable black heeled boots etc.). Here are the results (tried a bunch of things, most went back but only kept these). Just wanted to share the lucky finds.

2 colors of BR sweater (does the red/tan work with the grey pants?). Zara navy blazer. Max Mara lightweight wool pants from Rue La La. Dara III boots from Clarks. The pants are much more expensive than I am used to but since I only have one other pair of dress trousers, these should get a lot of wear (I returned the grey Classiques Entier Jesi trousers, they just seemed too wide on me).

What do you think?
