(The Lisette flatforms by Love Bonito, photo #1 below) </p> <p>They're a cheaper pleather pair that fit my totally opposite feet to yours (wide forefoot, medium to low arches, instep that swells) with an elasticated back band (no velcro) BUT it sounds like this style of sole might be right up your alley @Janet - a not-too-high flatform with 'refined' treads will give you that 'chunky lug sole' *look* without the risky balance issues. (In other words, I hear you on ankle rolling).&nbsp;</p> <p>I ended up getting the Ecco hibiscus last year on a whim (and on sale) and they proved surprisingly versatile. I don't know if they are making them in more edgy colours. They're similar to their sport sandal (which I also have, but only wear for hikes). Not quite as high quality as those, though. I am also wary of ankle straps — they can work for me if the other details are right, but some of them either cut into my ankle when I walk, or are not flattering enough on my rather unshapely legs. </p> <p>Isabel, I had a pair of Antelope sandals for a long time, and I loved the style and shape, but the color (olive) never quite played with my wardrobe very well, and they were actually a bit warm and sweaty since they had a lot of foot coverage. I’m glad I found my turquoise knit Cons a couple of years ago — their fits seem to have gotten a bit wider (or maybe my feet are changing?) and the heels slip off me on newer styles. </p> <p>Sarah, I’m not a big pattern mixer, but I am also attracted to platform styles with patterned or interesting platforms or heels. There are some cool architectural/sculptural heel styles out now, but they tend to be on dressier styles than I need, and the heels a bit higher than I’d prefer. The Huma Blanco ones in pic three are an example.
