Thanks Caro! We'll see how it works out. I agree that planning for a surprise item is a good idea, but what I have left in my budget depends also largely on how much these items are going to cost and how many of these I will find. So it's not all that predictable.

Looks like a great list. I always leave some of the budget for something I love but don't need

Thanks Cheryl!

Thanks Mona. I'm feeling so so about my summer wardrobe, but since we already have July and it's been cold all the time I didn't really use the stuff that I have much. It's always cooling down again in September, so we only have two months left to get some summer temperatures anyway. I recently bought new sandals, some new t-shirts and a summer dress (the one I wore for the wedding). The ballet flats I wore with the dress. Some lightwash bf jeans that I hemmed at full length. A breton shirt. I made a list four months ago and I didn't get most of it - the blazer and the oxfords already were on that list for example.

Thanks Lyn. I don't buy at Modcloth because I don't want to deal with international shipping. I had a look and I do think that one would be too full for me anyway, maybe it's more accurat to say I'm looking for a flared skirt.

Astrid - have you tried the Essential Elegance skirt at Modcloth? There is a black one that is quite popular and gets a lot of good reviews. I think you need to size down though - I am still wanting to bite the bullet on the red one. I have it in blue and magenta, but they were a little too big for me and I (faceslapself) donated them before I got my sewing machine.

Sounds like a great shopping list. It is good that you are already thinking about fall/winter. I need to do that soon.
How do you feel about your summer wardrobe? Were you able to get everything you had planned for? I am curious as I am updating my wardrobe on a budget too and would love to hear ideas from you.

Thanks! A blazer has been on my mind for a while, I just hadn't found one so far that was comfortable, not too dressy and not too expensive.

This is a great starting point for your fall wardrobe. I love the idea of a blazer to add structure to your softer pieces.

Thanks Suz! I doesn't have to be black jeans, but I have to be comfortable in them. Depending on how tight they are and how they feel I might not be comfortable wearing shorter tops with other pants and that wouldn't help with my wardrobe hole.

Astrid, this looks like a great list.

I have been witnessing your winter coat search for two years, and I am praying that this is the year PPP pays off and you find something spectacular!!

Do you think it needs to be black jeans, by the way, or would a ponte pant or some similar straight leg style be even more versatile? I ask because I do find my non-jean trousers to be quite useful for times when I want to wear a denim topper. Not that I am against denim on denim; I'm not.

Thanks Claire! It was a suggestion I got on the other thread and it really helped a lot. Because I discovered that I have a lot of outfits pinned that I like for a certain aspects but that I wouldn't wear as they are. The tailor I usually go to doesn't replace zippers, so I'd have to look elsewhere. The skirt still looks okay, but you can definitely see that I've been wearing it a lot for two years now. It's from Zara, so not super quality either. I already had to stitch seams together two times, but luckily it isn't very obvious on the black fabric.

Astrid, what a good idea to have a board where you pin only "complete and realistic" outfits! It tells a lot about your style as well. Your list looks good to me. I noticed that my tailor has a price of about $15 to replace a zipper. Do you think it would be worth it to pay someone else to fix your skirt? Is the rest of the skirt in good shape?

I recently posted about style goals and wardrobe planning and this is the pinterest board I came up with as a consequence http://pinterest.com/ridrin/pe.....revisited/. I only pinned those outfits on it that I could really see myself wearing head to toe.

I had a look at this board and my wardrobe and here's the shopping list I came up with for now:

1. Booties
They should work under my bootcuts and with my skirts and I should be able to tuck my straight leg jeans into them. They also need to be practical for cold and wet fall and winter weather.

2. Oxfords/Loafers
Don't need to be as weather proof as the booties, they would be a replacement for my tan oxfords. Need to work with skirts.

3. Black straight leg jeans
I need to be able to tuck them in, that way I have another option for winter to wear with my boots . Or wear them untucked in fall with one of my denim jackets as a topper.

4. Wool coat
To wear over pants and skirts in fall and winter when it's not super cold. This would be a replacement for my cheap pseudo wool coat.

5. Winter coat
To wear when it's freezing. Has to be functional first, but I don't want it to look too much like gear.

6. More sweaters/knitwear options
I haven't planned what to get in this case, I want to wait and see what's out there and what I think would work best once we really have fall.

Optionally

7. Blazer to wear with pants
This would be a cord/velvet/wool/tweed blazer to wear with my jeans.

8. Fall/winter dress
Dress I can wear on its own or layered over or under in fall/winter.

9. Solid colored knee length full skirt
I might need a replacement for my black wardrobe workhorse skirt. The zipper seems to be on its last legs and I don't think it would be an easy fix.

That's it for now. I've decided to not worry about spring or summer stuff for the moment. I can think about that next year.

What do you think? Would you add something? Leave something out? Specify something?
