Angie, that is a helpful analysis. Most of.my jackets are more.like #3 but I still get sucked into the collarless ones by thinking it may be dressier. I would.liketo.show you soon a maxazria jacket with no collar but giant shoulder pads that I hope to replace with smaller pads. It is interesting how taking the photos really helps pinpoint some fit issues.
Thistle, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. But you have been finding great dresses and really know what to keep and what to let go. You are building an amazing wardrobe.

Jules, I am still planning on the KU dress for MOTB.
Suz, thank you for commenting! I think I will have fun with them. I want to try the jacket with what may be the world's largest collection of tops in some kind.of raspberry and orange prints.

So glad this dress worked for you! It is so beautiful and the movement of it is divine. I love the swish! I ended up returning mine. Even sizing down, the top draped over the belt and I am just not ready to surrender that much waist!

Looks lovely on you, though! I like three the best, and the color looks so nice with the dress!

Okay, I am THRILLED that the VC dress is now working in the smaller size. Brilliant. It is such a pretty dress I am tempted to order it myself even though I'm not ordering from Nordstrom's! There you go. (Maybe I will find one at my Winners. Sometimes we get lucky there).

LOVE the raspberry jacket. It is one of my favourite colours and it looks wonderful with the blues but will also look terrific with many of your other neutrals. Please do keep that jacket.

I really like the SHAPE of the Halogen jacket with this dress. But hot pink is too warm. You need fuchsia, or raspberry, or white (though I know that would be a problem for the wedding.)

Anyway - so glad you have two lovely keepers here!

I like blazer #3 the best. Shoulder pads look good on your frame. The jean jacket is great too!

I like #1 the least because a collarless jacket is less flattering on your body type (long neck, short hair, dainty shoulder line and small bust). But from the waist down, #1 is fabulous.

You look best in jackets with a strong and structured neck and shoulder line. I hope that makes sense.

KILLER dress!

I like the jacket in number #1 with the dress. The points on the jacket make a sort of cutaway that shows off the dress. I even like the color, although it's very perky.

The straight hem of the jacket in #3 strikes me as a little stodgy.

Echo, I hear you. That's what I thought I was going for. At least in the mirror, though, the really hot pinks kind of cast a nuclear glow that doesn't seem to work for me, skin-tone wise, so that's part of what is putting me off of those colors.

Actually, I very much like the first, hot-pink topper with the dress. I find the contrast visually interesting. As far as tones go, however, the second jacket is a cooler pink and coordinates more. The dress is beautiful, though, and I think it will look great with almost anything.

OK. I am a slow blockhead. I do like the jean jacket. I haven't ever had one--not even blue denim! I would also wear it to work, since it doesn' t read as denim, and I always like to have a light jacket for to and fro and I wear a lot of neutrals and this could go over black/gray or brown/cream. Thank you for encouraging me!
Also the experience with the various "pink" colors vs. the raspberry is part of my growing wardrobe discipline/epiphany experience. More on that later.

The jean jacket is the best. The coolness of the raspberry colour works with the dress, and the styling elevates the whole look in a modern, fresh way. The shape of the jacket is modern, and absolutely works with your body shape.

I would wear this look to an office, even a conservative one, styled just as you have.

Not so keen on the other jackets...

Lynn, thank you for advising! I think if it can work with other things--say at least a couple of pants outfits, which I'd wear more often --then I won't be able to resist the color--buy it when it's available! It could be more cropped for the dress, but then would be hard to use with pants. So I'm hoping it will swing both ways. You're right about the other jackets--they are not the ones.

Thought I’d show some things I tried even though not all are working.

Here is the VC blouson dress sized down, which I think fits better and now needs no alterations. So that’s a keeper.

I wanted to try topper colors in the pink-red family since I thought that would keep me from looking too blue for my coloring. found a lot of very hot pink and I think I knew they would be too bright and should have trusted my color judgement more.

#1—Halogen jacket; it’s almost fluorescent, so no go, but I like the somewhat cropped trim style with the dress. Could try it in indigo denim but then, more blue.

#2—VC raspberry denim jacket. Love this color. I don’t see this as my go-to topper for this dress, but will try the jacket with other outfits to see if it would be multi-use enough to keep. Despite the color I'm not sure I'm good in the jean-jacket look.

3#-- Mizrahi jacket—also still very “pank” and makes me realize while I like hot pink, it can be overwhelming. Jacket has a nice feel. Just a bit shoulder-pad intense.

I thought a pink jacket would be an easy fix, but now I'm not even sure to stay with that approach. Need to skew cooler and more subdued with the blue. ( Like the Zanella London jacket, haha). Still could just hunt down a cardigan in a good cut and length as there ought to be a lot of options in those.
