Sal - yes skinnies are different - and these are so comfortable I can sleep in them (and I did on our camping holiday!).

Are you asking why I count bras?- I guess I don't buy many of them - the 4 this year is unprecedented. Usually would get one. I do have some others that are handed down to me (or up, from daughter) but they weren't strapless or sport. My bra drawer is overflowing so I need to tidy it.

I'm not a bag person, and only purchase when one is worn out. The last one went for 3 years. (mainly because I actually use a backpack instead, quite often, to carry my gym clothes)

I'm impressed at your 5 thrifted items - I'd like to do more of that, but for someone like me who finds shopping difficult, op shops are not easy. I'm enthusiastic for about 10 minutes and then it dries up.

Bijou - great point about the haircut!

Rachy - Thanks - and I guess the chances are that your kmart will have some. They are ubiquitous these days! And I'm wearing the sweatshirt dress as I type. When it's clean, I probably wear it for some portion of 3 days a week.

Oh, and I've posted another thread trying out the crops with a long cardi.

Lookin’ very sassy these days, Anne! Have to say sweatshirt dresses are the best... and am now wondering if I can get myself to a Kmart to look at their high waist skinnies. I’m really sick of my low waist pants too!

You have added some great pieces this year. Of course your new haircut has been the biggest change in your style, which has been a huge success.

I do like those wide leg jeans but I agree a pair of basic skinnies fills a different need.

You have done well- and I hope the right sandals turn up. Flat options are improving so I suspect they will.

I have added 21 items with 5 being thrifted. I do count bags but not bras(1 added). It is that mix of budget ( bras are expensive) and no of items.

You do an amazing job of pulling together a wardrobe to meet many needs by spending very wisely. I’m glad you’re able to add in a few wildcards too. They put the fun into fashion don’t they?

Thanks Barbara Diane. I do like a statement skirt. Those two have lasted extremely well. The midi is over 4 years old and the running skirt maybe three, and both are worn frequently.

Thanks Smittie, not a shopper is about right! This is more clothing than I have bought for quite some time. BTW thanks for your sizing help by pm with the Boden dress, and your example of getting it which inspired me.
Thanks Joy, yes I will try out the suggestion you and Smittie make about a long Cardigan with the crops.

A long cardigan or long blazer worn open to create a vertical line might work out well for you.

You’re disciplined (or not a Shopper!)
I think you should try the wide cropped pants with a long cardigan. I think it would help with the proportions and you might not need to wear heels with them.

Last year I introduced several exciting wild cards into my wardrobe. I prefer not to have that much excitement every year and this year has been a year with lots of replacements of basics and wardrobe essentials. Sorry there's so few pictures.

My aim is 12-20 new items a year (not including knickers, socks, hose, jewellery or bags - but I'm very minimalist with the latter 2 anyway. Also doesn't include gifts or handed down items, because I can't plan them)

Here's what I bought:

Cropped wide high rise (ish) denim flares (Australian Target)- definitely the item that's been hardest to fit into my wardrobe. Prefer with fitted tops and heels at this point (pic1)

New dark wash high rise stretchy skinnies (Kmart) - because I'm sick of jeans that aren't high rise and the above didn't satisfy FFBO jeans requirements

Boden sweatshirt dress in Navy. LOVE this and wear it so much, both at home and out casually. Really scratched that itch of something to wear with leggings. Hard to photograph though!

Faux suede black moto (Dotti) - took the wardrobe spot of black pleather jacket (Pic 1)

BLue blouse with openwork at top (pic 3)

beetroot coloured puffer( Rivers) - love coloured outerwear for winter

orange zip into a bag waterproof rain jacket - a $5 bargain to keep in my bag. Though it would be good for running too, but wasn't.

striped tee, one scoop neck (Kmart) one turtleneck (Dotti) (pic 1)- filled wardrobe hole of long sleeve fitted tops that are ok for under sweaters but look ok on their own too.

white long sleeved tee - replacement, mostly for layering

charcoal tracksuit pants for loungewear - goes well with my blue hoodie

white cami (dotti)

Black cami (Target)

2 strapless bras (which I wear frequently in summer)

2 sports bras (because they were bought in a 2 pack) because 2 sports bras was not enough, especially when one was wearing out and the other borrowed

New running shoes (after 3 years) and in time break in to run a half marathon.

That makes 18 items, which is quite a lot for me! Not counted, but worthy of the mention

A cheap watch in blush

a new blush bag

a handed down (up?) fashion sneakers from DD16. They may not have much wear left though, and I haven't washed the red dirt off from our Karajini holiday

blister proof socks for the HM. Unfortunately mislaid one on the day of the race. They aren't really blister proof for that distance but they do help.

parkrun 100 race tee - I only paid the postage on that (pic 2)

Have been handed down a gorgeous blue scarf in exactly my colour - great timing as I'd lost mine - and a few other scarves that I'll have to do a K/R with.

I think my shopping is just about done for the year. I skipped buying a sweater this year, though I kind of fancied a thin turtleneck one - but spring isn't far off now and I can wear scarves.

I'll need new everyday sandals in summer and I won't turn down one serendipitous wildcard since I have two slots left, but as someone who only intermittently enjoys shopping, I feel relieved to not have much until next winter.

This post is largely for my own benefit (I hadn't counted until now) but of course, comments are welcome.
