Peep toes can cause problems for some; feet slip forward and the peep cuts into toes as your feet swell. Just something to consider as your DD will know how her feet perform when she is on them all day.
Best wishes to your daughter, I'm sure she's going to enjoy herself in her new job.
Denise

I am somewhat limited on brands since I wear an unusual size, but the brands that have been most comfortable for me are Walking Cradles and Comfortiva. I don't know what B&M stores might carry them, as I do all shoe shopping online, primarily from zappos.com .

I've had great luck with Dr. Scholl's flats - they have memory foam, and come in cute patterns (I'm on my second pair of leopard print flats, which have a slight pointed toe, but I've got a busted toe to accomodate and there's *plenty of room). I also am on my second pair of Aerosole flats, which look like Toms but have a lot more support and cushion. And I also have a pair of (I'm so embarrassed) Skecher flats with memory foam, and I'd definitely consider those again.
My 23 year old daughter only wears Lifestride or Naturalizer for her work shoes. She's on her feet all the time, and messed up her arches doing a cross-country ski race a few years ago so she doesn't mess around with shoes. It's comfort only for her.

Toms makes nice leather flats, too. They feel about the same and look just a bit more polished.

I'll have to ask her, but if she is like me, it's more about being able to wear socks or tights with her booties... less friction, less sweat, less cut outs that cut into or rub your foot.

If she's dying for bootie weather, what about a peep toe or cage bootie? Can she wear open shoes?

Gaylene, I am inclined to agree about waiting a week. Just gathering suggestions for now. And possibly she can get by with these new shoes until bootie weather.

She has been working the summer in a school on cement floors already, but in sneakers, which have plenty of arch support. That said, she is only in her 20s and spent her last 4 years in college walking constantly in shoes like Toms and flip flops with little arch support, so what do I know... I do think the younger you are, the less arch support you need, and the more you can torture your feet with ill fitting shoes...

At least she's sensible enough to turn her nose up at pointy toed flats!

Joy, what kind of Tom's would you recommend to go with the capsule? Do you think red would work?

Hmm, she may not think she needs a ton of support right now, but a week of constant standing on cement floors might change her mind. ;)
Maybe wait for a week or two until she sees how her feet adjust?

Cushioning was actually more important to me than arch support, but, then, I never wore flats. All my work shoes had at least a 1 inch heel.

ETA: Your daughter's capsule looks great! She could give pointers to some of the teachers I've had to supervise!

Comfort is #1. She will be on her feet a lot. I wouldn't think Toms would be out of place. How about some booties with cut outs or peep toe?

So glad that your shopping trip was successful. That is a lovely capsule. Your daughter has good taste. I, like your daughter, avoid high vamp shoes (because of a high instep). I wear a lot of shoes similar to the ballet flats you have pictured in the capsule. I also find that I can wear low-vamp loafers and driving mocs, as well as flats with a low "V" vamp. Here are some ideas. Most of these come in a variety of colors.

I tried to update the earlier thread but my post got eaten:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ase-advise

We had a successful shopping trip yesterday to build a capsule for DD's first job starting tomorrow as a middle school TA. See photo!

We started at Macy's and found her a jersey sleeveless belted polka dot dress. It hits her at the knees, not above as in the model pictured. Momma revelation: my DD is not an IT. She's an hourglass!

We then went on to LOFT and scored the rest. She runs hot so we focused mostly on sleeveless blouses that can be layered with a cardigan as the temps cool. The one long sleeve blouse has a cute rabbit pattern which tickled DD's fancy.

She loved the LOFT pants and we want to duplicate in black, but they didn't have them in in stock so will have to order. The skirt shown is an approximation of one she already owns from her internship (and she wore for her job interview).

Everything was fully tested for modesty, machine washability, and ability to flex, bend and move.

She still needs another pair of shoes and we could use help here! She's fussy with shoes -- does not like straps or high vamps or shoes that rub on the back of her ankles. She lives in Tom's but not sure those are teacher appropriate? She does not need a ton of arch support, or so she claims right now. She says she cannot wait for bootie weather as she prefers booties.

Recommendations for footwear?

Did you notice she likes patterns as much as I do? The banned book tote she already owns.
