This does look cute on you:). May I suggest having a read of Angie's posts on perfect pants lengths. Those shoes are really gorgeous. Do you have black pants also? I would love to see this look simply in pink and black, I think it would really create a very streamlined look.

Thank you guys. I feel like I just go through a therapy session. So, I tried this with a sweater and different pants and although I still have top bulk, it does look better with the fuller pants. I think I really like this.

Hi! You've had great advice here. And may I say, you look fantastic.

This sweater is super cute, but I think what bothers you is that it does bring extra attention to the top half. The bow detail is very refined but does steal the show. You need to wear something very maxi or large in the bottom to balance it out. Like a A line midi, or palazzo pants. These items because of their waist defining properties. And some heels with it all, to balance the wideness. How comfortable are you with such a silhouette?

I could see this working well with a crop black cardigan and as suggested earlier, wide leg pants. I understand you are rebuilding your wardrobe, so do you feel this sweater reflects your new style goals?

You've gotten great styling suggestions already. I second the idea of wide leg trousers and/or a jacket.

Congrats on your weight loss! To my eye, your figure has a nice balance -- feminine and curvy. You also have wonderful, classic features and lovely coloring. These are great assets!

I'd encourage you to keep posting outfits. It has been really helpful for me, particularly when I've been trying something new.

I like the retro feel of the sweater but it's short sleeves may be drawing attention to your bust because that's where they end. Try a jacket over it...maybe a jean or moto jacket if you want the look to be casual.

I think this is a vintage-vibe to me too; I can see it with a volumous black a-line skirt :)

I could see a pencil skirt working with it too; but I think it will be more tricky, assuming the sweater goes on top?

Yay for the weight loss!!

And this colour is super for you, as the others have said.

Do you LIKE the sweater? I know you said that you do, in theory, but you're also worried something is off about it. Do you think it fits your own style goals? Do you like everything about it, or just some things?

For someone with a retro bent, this could look terrific styled as suggested. If that's not the direction you want to go in, you might not feel comfortable even with those ideas. But if you're not sure, why not give it a whirl and see how you feel? At least you can be certain the the colour is flattering to you.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts...I am discovering so much about my self reading your posts and all of these wonderfully insightful threads.

I have some wider leg gray trousers that I think will work and a high wasted black pencil skirt...(not sure that works on me though)..I do have a black cropped cardi. So I am taking away from this that I need to pair this sweater with something for balance and be aware to make sure my accessories are adult.

Colour and bow I like. On its own it does overemphasize your bust (by the way - I would describe your figure as feminine curves with a boyish waistline rather than the way you did!). How about with a black cardigan and A line skirt or trousers? And a low heel or pump.
Good job losing the weight! Give yourself a pat on the back.

I like it with your look - namely wavy hair and strong brows ( which I would love to have) - it reads a little classic movie star to me - definitely not little girl. Seems to fit with your profile style statements as well. Do you have any skirts it might work with?

It looks good to me. The color is nice on you and the fit is good. I can see how it could be read as "little girl," but it could also be read as retro--and that's how it comes across to me here. I like this top a lot with the trousers. Make sure your accessories are all grown up...no mary janes for shoes A leather jacket could be fun too.

Congrats on the weight loss. You look terrific!

Congrats to you on your weight loss success. The color is really great for you!. The style is sort of vintage to my eye. The neckline design does draw some attention to the bust area or the top half. I think you want to balance and pull some focus to the bottom half. You could add a dark toned bracelet to help pull some visual interest downward. You could wear this with a slightly wider leg trouser. And you could wear this under a jacket that is tailored to nip in at the waist.

OK so I just lost a bunch of weight and am starting from scratch on my wardrobe. Every one bought me clothing this year for Christmas.

So thanks to you all I found out I am a rectangle shape. Big boobs and butt but no waste definition.

Here is a sweater blouse that I like, in theory but not sure what is off about it. Can I make this better?

When you see this, what style do you see? Vintage '50's ? '80's or little girl?

ETA: I guess I am confused at where to start with a casual- ish wardrobe and if I can do better and how my "style" even comes off to others....
