I get way too many of these e-mails from retailers, and I really don't need them. I've tried unsubscribing from one, several times, and am still getting their e-mails, despite asking not to. Time to assign a rule for them, meaning: they go straight to junk e-mail status upon receipt. </p> <p>I like Suz' idea - it all gets sent to 'junk' and you go looking in there if/when you're going shopping, to see if there are any coupons or deals at the store you're going to be shopping at. </p> <p>Best wishes for your new "junk e-mail free" 2013, and more importantly - a "mortgage free" 2017 or thereabouts. I remember we caught the bug to do it when we started playing with an amortization schedule on the computer (our very first PC). We kept plugging in how much would our monthly payment be it we paid it off in 15 years...7 years....5 years. I was amazed that most of our payment was interest and for very little extra per month we could do some serious damage to the mortgage. At the very end (less that 5 years) we went crazy and made quadruple mortgage payments for a few months just to get it done. I was 29. I've been in a decluttering mode too. I think the new year does that to many of us. I think my house is looking mighty fine if I do say so myself!</p> <p>Yes killing the mortgage has been a project for us for a little over a year now. We have made great strides, it's down to 5 years exactly now. I should be happy with that, but I'm kinda crazy and we have 4 years left on our term and I kinda want to do it in that time. It would mean a huge increase which I am trying to get DH on board with, but it would also mean very little extra money, except for the times we make overtime/ on call, which is fairly often for us both. I think I'm ok with that though. I love a good goal. And really what do I need now? Nothing. And it would put us just 4 years from total financial freedom.....awesome! We could literally travel like every month if we wanted to!
