oh, this is very Khris! I can see this looking good on you, Mo. On waistless me the cinch would be a joke. I think you should try it - at least you'll know if this kind of thing works for you!

Color is wonderful but I am not sure of the cut. I think a simple shift style would be more versatile and also won't date as quickly. I really love shifts and sheaths and they work year round.

For some reason I don't really like the pockets. It would be much better without them.

I think it's cute in a sporty kind of way. I agree with Rae about the trickiness of the drawstring waist and fit--you'll just have to try it on and see! The color would be gorgeous on you.

Mo, I actually have a sleeveless navy sack dress with drawstring belt that is kind of similar to this, and i love it for hot, humid weather. It's several years old, from H&M. I don't particularly like this one you've shown, though, and I think the difference is that mine has a plain front - it has some detailing around the neckline but nothing else. With the drawstring and blousing, the pockets and button front on this one makes it look a bit sloppy in my opinion.

Also, the drawstring on mine is removable which is nice, although it doesn't really work with most of my belts so I usually just use the string.

My problem with drawstrings is that they are never in the right place. They sit too low, so when I cinch or belt, I end up with a big, overly blousey top part and a too-short lower part.

I will keep looking. I have months to go, after all. I think I need a bit more definition in my spring/summer dress choice. And for once, unbearable heat won't be the biggest factor - yay!!

YAY, it's fine! I don't think this is the definition of frumptastic - lol. Go for it - definitely a cool summer option!

I think it's perfect for hot weather too. I do agree with Khris that belting often makes these types of frocks too short and makes them stick out too much on the side. I like these loosely tied to give a hint of a waist (but that coming from someone without a waist.) It looks cool and comfy--not a fashion statement but it definitely functional and cute.

Khris, it's on 6pm. http://www.6pm.com/green-drago.....-brilliant I'd be thrilled to see you demonstrate how to wear it for me lol! I guess I need to find the fine line between not form fitting and too waist surrendering. It's hard navigating uncharted waters he he.

I don't think it's frumpy at all- this is just the type of dress that I like for the extreme heat. Belts don't always work over a drawstring, though- and it sometimes makes the dress too short. If you feel frumpy in things that don't define your waist, then I think you should pass, but I might give it a try.
Where is this from?

In my browsing for a casual blue spring dress I came across this linen number. I would wear a 2 or 3" cinch belt over the drawstring waist. Still too frumptastic? I'm having a hard time departing from more structured and form fitting dress silhouettes. I want a bit of a blouson look, but I don't want dumpy or the dreaded I Give Up Dress look! Am I just kidding myself that the right belt will make all the difference? (being a belt newbie, I really don't know honestly)

yay - it's fine, just a looser look
nay - frumpville, no belt will save it

Thanks
