I use Cerave night cream. My Dermatologist recommended it. It's over the counter. It's gentle on skin and I scented. I have Rosacea and severe migraines and it doesn't aggravate either of these issues. I think it's a winner! The cream in a tub is what I use for the day. I love it.

I use stuff from Paula's Choice. It's all unscented and reasonably priced. Made by Paula Begoun. She writes books reviewing skin care and make up that are very informative. I also like Olay regenerist fragrance free serum. I also use a mineral, fragrance free sunscreen. I think the chemical ones can aggravate your skin if it is sensitive.

I tried Cerave on my face last night after the dermatologist recommended it for the eczema on my hands -and I quite liked it. It is has no scent at all, esy to absorb and my skin looked great in the morning. I got it in the drugstore.
When I want more nourishing I use Bio-oil forthe night. It works really well too but you need to apply it earlier so it gets absorbed before you hit the pillow becasue it is ...well,oil! :-0
From food I cna add cmntloupe and spinach as anothre skin-friendly recommendation.
Deb, lucky you living in California and apparently having an access to good avocados: it is a pain to buy them here up north. Most of them are hrd as rocks in the store and go bad instead of going ripe! Pity because I adore avocados!

I looked and have one of the lotions in the cupboard that will tide me over until I find a local supplier of one of the suggested products and I will mark this thread so I can try until I find what is best.

What JR said, and what Krista says too. I know it seems silly, but when I remember to include a little bit of guacamole, or some almonds in my diet, my skin appreciates it. Lots of fish, nuts, nut butters, avocados and the like. Taking good quality fish oil supplements and D3 supplements also helps. Good fats are a good thing! Not saying load up on super-caloric salad dressings or what have you, but that 'fat' isn't the enemy at all. Include: avocados, almond butter, walnut oil, wild Alaska salmon at least once a week, good quality extra virgin olive oil, brazil nuts and even some real butter

Meanwhile, in terms of good, but basic, skincare - I have had fairly good luck with the CeraVe brand - something I noticed Angie mentioning quite a while back. I have the hydrating cleanser (for normal to dry skin), the foaming cleanser (for oily skin), the regular moisturizing lotion and the AM face cream (contains sunscreen). I'm not sure if CeraVe is available in Canada, but if it is - it's a good buy - reasonable prices, and no weird additives/scents to irritate sensitive skin.

I've personally had the best luck with the hydrating cleanser and the ordinary moisturizing lotion. I put the moisturizing lotion on at night, and often find myself noticing very soft and calm skin in the morning. The moisturizing lotion is that good. Very basic, but it works. No, it's not some sort of super-fancy anti-aging product/serum or anything, but it works well.

Meawhile, I've been battling sensitive skin issues, and as it turns out - a whole bunch of my skin care, makeup, and hair care products had gluten in them. I'm intolerant to gluten (food-wise), and while I didn't think personal care products mattered when it came to that sort of thing, it turns out I'm wrong about that (ack! hello hives, coughing, runny nose, mild breathing problems - yes, that bad).

Just for the record, I've done my homework, and it turns out CeraVe products are gluten-free (according to the FAQ's on their US website), if that helps at all.

The CeraVe regular moisturizing lotion is fabulous - and you wouldn't think so, because it comes in a pump bottle like some sort of hand lotion/body lotion - but it really is quite good. Put it on your face at night, before bed, and you will have soft, smooth and happy skin in the morning. I also use this lotion on my legs, chest, hands, arms - wherever I need it - and it's excellent, imo.

Here is the one I have:

http://cerave.com/our-products.....ng-lotion/

Just looked up , "CeraVe Canada" and came up with this:

http://www.cerave.ca/en/produc.....zing-cream

Alternatively, I think La Roche Posay products are very good too. I know you can get these at Shopper's, but am not sure about London Drugs. In any case, this is also a very good product line (imo), and while I haven't done the research in terms of 'gluten free' I can say that I've never had a problem with La Roche Posay products. If you wanted a simple, night time moisturizer and couldn't find the CeraVe stuff, I'd go looking into La Roche Posay for sure.

After that, look into Lise Watier - fab makeup and skin care items. Available at London Drugs and extremely good products. I don't have specific skin care recommendations for this line, but I can say that the makeup is very high-quality and nice on skin. A little bit less than the typical department store products, but (imo) much better quality.

Hope this helps!

I can second JR's point about the fats - I add oils like flax oil and coconut oil to smoothies and notice a difference over time in my skin and hair. I also take an Omega-3 supplement twice a day and that helps too.

Not unscented, but have you tried coconut oil? If it doesn't work, it's great for cooking. ;o)

Another possibility is reducing your carbs and increasing your fats. Seriously. It's done wonderful things for my skin. There's a little bit more to it than just that, of course, but it's amazing how many things can be fixed or improved by changes in what you eat.

I actually catch myself caressing my skin sometimes, just because it feels so much better than it used to. Hopefully I don't do it in public... LOL!

Have your tried any of the Clinique creams? They will give you a sample at the counter to take home and try. I use their facial loation and it has no scent.

Hi fabbers,

I had my monthly facial today and she noted that my skin was a bit dry. It was probably because I golfed two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon on Saturday and the winds were gusting to 40 kph the whole time. I have noticed that my skin looks old and tired and the lines and sag are much more noticeable. I feel as though I have aged a decade in the last two years.

I have tried quite a few face creams but most have scents and cause my eyes to water and give me a headache. The allergy to scents seems to be getting worse as I age and there are more scents that cause the reaction. Does anyone have experience with a good night cream that is unscented? I don't necessarily need it to be hypo-allergenic as long as it is scent free.

Thanks.
