Definitely a situation where we are so grateful for what we have. On the positive side, it is amazing to see the community rally together to help. At the donations spots,the lineups are long and people generous. Business are offering free meals, people opening their homes and when we went back to volunteer this morning, they had more people than they needed, so we will go back tonight as they are operating 24 hrs now to sort through things. As much as fashion is my hobby, this kind of event makes you realize that as much as I love my clothes, they aren't what I'd save - family and pets so much more important. Thanks also to those of you that have donated. Seeing first hand I can tell you the need is huge and will continue, despite all the donations in kind the community is putting together. As a former Albertan, I've witnessed bad fires, but never one where an entire city needed to be evacuated! What made it even worse was knowing there is really only one road in and out of Ft. Mac--the northern road just leads up to work camps. Kudos to the oil companies who opened up those camps to give evacuees a place to sleep and eat. And to the stoic and orderly way the people of Ft. Mac evacuated their city in a line up of vehicles that stretched for kilometers, with the fire storm a heartbeat away. I live in Canada in the province of Alberta. There is a horrific wildfire going on in the northern part of our beautiful province which has displaced a city of over 88000 people, many leaving with only the clothes on their backs and many will likely have lost their homes. It has made me and many other Canadians feel so very sad, and being so close to it, I see, everyday the last few days, the evacuees in my city, many shopping for basic things the last few days. Other than making some new donations and volunteering , the inspiration I got from many posts where you segregated your clothes into those you loved and those that were great, but not your style or not something you reached for found me with a few bags full lovely clothes that I wasn't sure what to do with. Well, today I donated two big bags full of clothes, that will maybe spark some happiness to those suffering so much. Without the forum, I wouldn't have had these ready to go. Not only did it make me feel good, but I thought I would unlurk to have this wonderful community of YFL join me in sending good thoughts or prayers for rain over the fires and peace to those displaced. Thanks for sending good vibes our way and being my distraction as I sadly have watched this tragedy unfold. -Karmen </p>
