Have to admit that I was offended that most, if not all, of the IDLF bottoms are available only up to size 8. Can't help thinking that Ms. DLF feels, "my clothes are only for slim people." Before a falling-out, a lot of years ago, she was Karl Lagerfeld's muse. Karl L famously objected, after the fact, that his collaboration with H & M, all those years ago, was made in larger sizes.

I am a big fan of their heattech line of thermals and purchase my usual size every season. As a pretty pair, their bottoms tend not to fit me very well so I pass on those. And for their fleece's I go up one size and mine has worked well all season (and it's washed once a week).

Meh

I found I was too big for one size and too small for the other. Pants way too long for me.

Down jackets I have no need for them

Cashmere looked nice but they didn't have the style I wanted.

There are two within a 10 minute trip, otherwise I wouldn't make it a destination

I used to work there. I'll say the heat tech stuff, silk shirts, pointe leggings and puffy jackets were my favorite. The sizing runs big in my opinion. Also now is the time when we used to put the heattech and jackets on clearance! Good luck!

I particularly love the Ines de la Fressange collaboration, which seems to be ongoing (it's on its second year now). The quality and cut are worth the extra few dollars. The sizing is different than normal Uniqlo sizing, though. Items run a little larger but the main difference is the cut, which is longer in the torso in my experience.

I have a lot of Uniqlo that I love but it's mostly basics: sweatpants, sweatshorts, half a dozen identical cotton tees, a down jacket. Plus two perfect silk shirts from that collaboration and a cotton-cashmere top. Oh, and a +J (the Jil Sander collab) merino sleeveless turtleneck that is *perfect*.

Fabric quality for their main-line items: the merino is quite good, not as nice as the +J version, but soft and pill-resistant. Their silk is ok but less durable or substantial than Everlane, rather thin and shiny (except the Ines de la Fressange shirts). Their cotton shirts and tees tend to be high quality, with pima cotton so the texture is very smooth.

As for sizing, I'm around a 2 these days, sometimes still a 0 in Gap inflated sizing, and I'd say I'm an XS half the time and a S other times. I've never tried their pants though.

Most Uniqlo tops other than that collaboration are too short and boxy to look good on my long torso. I bought a sweater that is really meh on me because of that fit problem. But, I just discovered that their "long shirts" (almost tunic length) are perfect button-downs for me.

The merino wool sweaters are worth it even at full price, but are also on sale right now. No pilling and survive the washing machine. I also like the Heattech tanks and camisoles. I don't think the latter keep me any warmer than regular layering pieces, but they are thin enough to disappear under almost anything.

Yes, absolutely go up a size.

I like the quality on pretty much everything at Uniqlo, and have become utterly dependent on their heattech stuff (warmth without bulk). I think of them as "spiffy casual." Good for work, if you work in high tech.

I would look at their return policy online carefully. They don't take returns in store on heattech items after the package has been opened (which is kinda silly - they come in ziploc bags; it's not like you're ripping up the packaging).

i have a couple of wool blazers and heatech tees. they are great quality for the price....i haven't bought anything in the last year or so, but less the cut has changed they are smaller than most American brands.

Dear all, please don't be shocked: I'm a Uniqlo novice. I've never been to a store (there was never one where I was living) and hadn't realized they sold online. Then I followed Angie's link to those beautiful ink-blue trousers from her post today, and discovered this whole new world.

Now I'd love your guidance, as I'm overwhelmed!

What's good? What's worth it? What's not? And what's up with pants that cost 8 dollars??? What is this heatech thing?

I usually don't order online from a store if I've never tried their stuff in person, but I'm willing to give this a chance with some guidance from you...
