Ah, 3/4 sleeves would have been perfect! I have such a short neck but get cold -- hope I don't regret getting the turtles. Will give to DD if they drive me nuts. I got a scoop, V, and turtles for DD. I guess she can layer over the turtles!

Update, in the interest of fairness: I just checked their site, and it looks like the scoopneck *is* now long-sleeved.

Be advised, though, that the scoop is pretty scoop-y, so you may need another layer underneath, especially if you're petite.

As someone who has worn HeatTech for several winters now (almost every day) - here is what I've learned.

-- The sizes run a bit small.

-- There is a crewneck long-sleeve option, and a scoopneck, 3/4-sleeve option. I would REALLY like a slightly less scooped scoopneck with long sleeves, which is not offered, so I often end up wearing a cami under a HeatTech under a sweater. This is fine for me because I'm in a place with cold winters.

-- I have not noticed any magical heat-generating properties, but they are an extremely nice layering option because they're lightweight, silky, affordable, and fit under almost anything.

-- Regular wash, line or flat dry. They hold up pretty well. Can't speak for what happens if you regularly put them in the dryer -- I only do that when it's by accident.

Somewhat bizarrely, a couple of years ago Uniqlo had a time-limited online HeatTech store which was so popular that -- TA DAH -- they discontinued it. ???

I have never understood this. If they are offering online ordering again, I will definitely be freshening up my selection of HeatTech tops.

Oh, I'm glad of this report. I hate (hate!) going into the city, but I make the pilgrimage a few times a year. Uniqlo is on the list of pilgrimages.

So you think the Heattech is worth a try?

Thank you for this! I've been eyeing the mail order option. I agree that the color selection is not TDF... after basic black and white I got stuck.

Well, I BARTed over to the Uniqlo store, wearing layered tank tops to facilitate trying stuff on. Good thing I did; you are not allowed to open the Heattech packages and they only had samples of the various sizes hanging in front of the supply. And once the packages are opened, you aren't allowed to return them.

So there I was in the aisle, sweater stripped off, slipping these tops on and checking myself out in the mirror which was thankfully in the middle of this merchandise.

This Heattech stuff is very thin and stretchy and seems to run TTS. I am a P2/P4, mostly P4, and I could have gotten either the XS or S. The sleeves were long on me which I expected, but they weren't ridiculously long and could be scrunched up. The XS was not tight or binding anywhere, but I think it showed the bumps and bulges more than the S. DD's shoulders are very broad, so I got her the S just to be safe. We both wear Target's layering Ts/tanks in S.

The samples showed evidence of minor pilling, so I know they won't last forever. They were soft, warm, and comfy, and even the non-patterned turtlenecks were under $15 ($14.90), so I am not expecting miracles. The Heattech stuff is the thickness of layering Ts, which means the white may not be sufficiently thick to wear alone. I bought it as an underlayer, so I guess that is not an issue. You could probably wear the $20 ones with the built-in bra on their own. The bra reminded me of the ones in bathing suits -- not a cami shelf bra, but those engineered shaped things.

I am clueless with regard to assessing cashmere quality, so I'm sorry I can't report back on theirs vs. Nordstroms. It just struck me that they have a ton of Ms and Ls and very few Ss.

A few things were unique; much was very basic like the Gap. Everything came in many colors, but most was not in DD's preferred jewel palette or my more eclectric one. I would have bought a down vest in a TDF color, but I only saw ones in *acceptable* colors. YMMV.

If you are in the area, Uniqlo is worth a visit. Their exchange/return policy is not the best, esp. for mail order.
