Love that and a great price for down! I have an ultra-light down coat that is warm enough for most winter weather even here in Michigan. I was surprised at how warm it is. And it is so much more comfortable than heavier coats.

That's a brilliant solution for your trip! Thanks for the review. The coat looks great on you. I might wear that piece like a cardigan indoors, in the winter, too.

That's a great solution.

Last spring we were out on a very cold rainy night -- our hosts had planned the outdoor evening for a balmy night and it was just so raw. I ended up layering my uniqlo down under my uniqlo raincoat. It was a pretty good fix.

It occurred to me to ask DH what he was planning to wear in CHI. His parka is hopelessly lightweight, so I ordered jackets for him to use as an underlayer. We will decide between the green and burgundy once they arrive.

I think this is such a good idea because in the SF Bay Area you could get a lot of use out of them separately, but probably not much use out of an arctic parka.

Your idea of layering for Chicago cold is genius. Based on your review, I plan to order a vest in the green ( looks dark olive on my iPad) in hopes that it could work under the olive anorak and as a top layer with the Dre olive jeans.

Wow! What a great piece to have. I really like the button down to make a v neck. It looks great and good planning on your part to make the MK coat work for Chicago.

The ultra light down coat, vest, and jacket (not shown) are on (minor) sale through today. They are feather light, more like sweater weight, and are supposed to be rain resistant.

I got the coat to layer under my MK trench coat with button in/out lining similar to the one below. It is perfect, and I can even layer the vest below THAT. I didn't want to invest in a winter coat for my November trip to Chicago so I think this will work out well.

The Small fits similar to a PS; with a layer heavier than a thin T-shirt (which I'm wearing in the photo) the sleeve length is perfect. The neckline in this style snaps down to make a V-neck. As you can see, this is full-length on me. For reference, I am generally an XS at Uniqlo, and their long sleeved stuff is always too long so this was quite a surprise.

Finally, the navy looks super pretty online. It is a much duller ink color IRL. The gray coat and gray vest look like quite different grays online. The store's sales associate said if they are the same color code they are the same color. The store didn't stock the vest in gray so I ordered it and will see if he's correct.
