The jeans were definitely a long shot for me. They sit at my belly button and are actually a tad loose in the waist, but don’t fall down at all because are snug everywhere else, especially the rear (slight wedgie effect in back if I’m being honest). I won’t be tucking but will wear them with boxy tops that come to the waistband or just over it, and maybe welted tops this fall although I don’t have any currently.<br /> A lot of wider pants have the effect of a thick rectangle on me these days as I don’t have a small waist anymore, but these actually fit me like balloon pants fit models, with a defined waist. There’s a comfort trade off, not gonna lie! I have asked my daughter if I can borrow her docs at least..)</p> <p>I swore off ordering from ON and Gap earlier this year, due to an effort to buy more often with my values in mind and a lot of return churn - I realized I was often ordering out of boredom. But I soon realized that realistically they are my go-to for denim. They have lots of styles in my size (14), I know how their stuff fits, and I don't have a good Canadian alternative. In any case, I have ordered much less regularly than I used to and usually only when my kids need something. I'm quite used to returning 80% of items so am pleasantly surprised to have 4 hits from Old Navy!<br /><b>*Finds are from the Canadian site*</b><br /><b>Dark wash balloon jeans </b>- completely fell in love with this look, they are what convinced me to order. The length/proportions are very similar on me as on the model. They give me a "waist"! <br /><b>Balloon pants</b> - not as balloon-y; these fit me better than the Everlane ones I bought early in the year (I don't think ON making the trend yet). They are a lighter, more summery weight. I am trying to stock on up on earth tones just a bit while they are still around.<br /><b>White dress -</b> this dress is also balloon shaped! It is typical Old Navy quality for this type of thing, short and very casual so I would wear it as a beach cover up, at a tropical resort (it can be dressed up a bit with gold sandals and earrings), or even over pants (volume over volume). It actually looks better reversed, as many reviewers suggested, but more to do with the neckline/sleeves than any perceived "flattery'/waist definition. Not slimming but even as someone quite self-conscious about "hip issues" I love this dress for what it is.<br /><b>Striped tshirt dress -</b> this one may yet go back but it fits well, is comfortable, and would be good for summer work from home. Tshirt dresses typically look terrible on me so this is a rare find.</p> <p>(PS my daughter says I should wear the white dress and the docs to the concert, I am not so sure I can revisit that look though! Maybe with some wide legged cropped jeans though...)</p> </p>
