i'm sorry to get so personal, but i'm wondering if you are wearing the same bra with both tops. that can make a difference on how a top fits and looks

Nothing wrong with the fuchsia knit to my eye!
The first one is just super flattering in shape and pattern placement.
Maybe try the fuchsia with a topper to break-up the colour and see how it feels then?

I wonder if a richer fuchsia color works better for you - this one is a bit muted but it is not bad at all but the shape is not the best for you.
As for the striped top - I don't agree that horizontal stripes are no-no for big busted. These stripes are low contrast, they add interest and actually not very flattering colors often work when they are in a pattern rather that a solid color.
Yep, you should listen to your instincts!

Yet another one who agrees that the fuscia color works well for you , just a problem with the material.... If you are not totally set on donating it, you could consider keeping it to layer with as suggested..
I love how taking photos really allows us to see what's really up,
Your instincts are wonderful!

Like Beth Ann, I do like the fuschia on you - I don't agree with the colour reflecting off your face not being flattering.

I agree that something about the weight of the knit makes the first top look better.

I love the color fuchsia on you -- it provides a nice high-contrast with your coloring. The neutral tones are working, though, too. They blend in a lower-contrast way, but your skin seems warm enough to carry it off.

I think the slightly heavier knit skims the body and the low-contrast stripes break up the torso visually (in a good way). The fuchsia top would still work beautifully as a layering piece and, on its own, the term "lumpasaurus" would not have entered my mind!

I love your way of describing the situation! I think it might be the fabric and I agree with your decision. You look terrific in the stripes!

So this first outfit shouldn't work. Brown and beige generally look terrible near my face, and horizontal stripes on a big busted fat lady are a big no-no, as is chunky knit-wear and short sleeves that chop up my hammy arms. Yet I always get compliments when I wear this top.

The second outfit should be fabulous. I look great in purple, the 3/4 length sleeves are usually a good length for me, and the horizontal ribbing should be slimming. Instead I look like a great lumpy lumpasaurus and the color is reflecting off my face in a most unpleasant way.

These photos were taken 2 days apart, and I'm wearing the same jeans, so we're definitely comparing apples to apples here. That fuchsia sweater is in the donate pile, and the brownish one stays.
