NO. MOw May was a big thing here incuding our house. When June came the grass was too high to mow. It was the wettest May on record which did not help. Robin, we have been there in March. The daffodils bloom in the parks. But expect rain and mud.

Sounds like it was a bit warmer than when we were there. We wore jackets most of the time outside. It was nice though, very little rain.

@ Robin F - flying home tomorrow, and I can say that we started the mornings with a coat or jacket, but did not need them by noon. Things cooled down around 5-6 o’clock, so the coat or jacket went back on. I run cold, and actually dressed warmer than some locals. Saw everything from spaghetti strap tops and shorts to jeans and puffers.

We are 4 for 4 with good weather experiences in the UK - having travelled in July, April, September, and now May.

Great pictures! We loved London so much when we went last September that we are planning to return as soon as we can! I have wondered about going in the spring when everything is in bloom but worried about the weather. Maybe we could get lucky too.

Oh Carla you make me miss the UK so much! I have been six times, most trips between 2002 and 2010 though when my only sister was marrying there and having her 2 sons there. I haven’t been since 2010, mostly since work got way busier and DH doesn’t like long haul and then pandemic!
Great photos.

Thanks. Fantastic pictures. Its years since I went to the UK. What I remember is the history and its so great to see places that you read about in books eg. If you are an Austen fan, you can go to Bath. I ran through the moors in Yorkshire imagining Heathcliff and Catherine. LOL.

I thought of Inge when I saw the doggos. A few were available for adoption, and others were there with their owners who were volunteering at the fair. We saw dogs out walking their companions everywhere, and many pubs advertise they are dog friendly. We ate at The Free Press in Cambridge last night, and there were two dogs under the table next to ours! A black lab, and a yellow lab. Very well behaved.

This is the 4th time DH and I have travelled to the UK, and the 4th time we have experienced wonderful weather with the exception of the first two days, which were cool and overcast. No rain! I’ve been taking a lot of photos, but half are flowers and gardens, and a quarter are food! Below are some of the other pictures I’ve taken.

#1 many an alley was decorated for the coronation
#2 boats for hire on the Thames.

#3 stumbled upon the tavern that is featured in ‘Ted Lasso’
#4 sunset as seen from our hotel window
#5 Red deer in Richmond park
#6 the line up at Platform 9 3/4’s Kings Cross!
#7 the river Cam
#8 one of the colleges (King’s College?) most of the colleges were closed to the public since students are preparing for exams. Some gates were open, but only for a peep inside.

#9 I take a lot of pictures of doors and gates…
#10 everywhere (Richmond, London, Cambridge) it seems ‘No Mow May’ is a ‘thing’. With the exception of playing fields, the grass was ‘let go’ everywhere. In some places it looked post apocalyptic - with vegetation ranging from grasses 10-12 inches, or ‘weeds’ up to 4 feet on any grassy patch ranging from domestic lawns and public parks, to meridians that divide the street. Queen Anne’s lace, buttercups, blue bells - all blooming.

#11 - how old is this wall?
#12 - the tile floor entry of the Fizwilliam Museum.
