Maya, Not to sound like I am trying to tell you what to do but gosh I think they need to hear about this from you. Maybe ask to speak to a manager? That is TRULY unacceptable and put you in a real financial pinch.

Perhaps you can just say 'I'd like for my overdraft fee to be reimbursed.' and just wait to see what they say. If the person you speak with is not a manager, I think I would ask for one.

Frankly, I am surprised they don't' offer you that AND a gift card.

Oh that's good. My bank charges me $30 to use my overdraft protection. I am actually getting rid of it because of that.

I had the same thought Marianna! I was hoping for a $25 gift card or something :p. The Gap did that for me once. It really is a major problem. Geez, what if I ordered a $2,000 Valentino bag? I have never had this problem anywhere else and I do a lot of online shopping.

Since I have overdraft protection I don't get charged thankfully. But the money comes out of my mom's account and she is not going to be happy when she is out $100 (the bank can't reverse the transaction--I just have to transfer the money back). I had this service put in place when I was still a student living in Brooklyn in case I had any emergencies, but I haven't used it since then. I'm glad it's still there or I would be even more ticked.

I am reluctant to use my credit card for anything other than cheap necessities, like at the drug store. I basically use it solely for the purpose of having a credit score, otherwise I doubt I'd have one. Only Nordstrom has this problem so far so I don't think of it as a major issue. Still annoying though.

Just a thought- when ordering online or over the phone, I ALWAYS use my credit card for that very reason. If there is ever that sort of problem, or an act of fraud I'd much rather deal with that on my credit card than my bank account.

Maya, I was in the same situation and I had NO money for a couple of days because of Nordstrom's mistake. I was so furious and wanted Nordstrom to do something to make it better (gift card or something... heh) but they didn't do any such thing. They apologized sincerely, but that was it. That wasn't enough, IMO.

It wouldn't have been a big deal if I actually had a lot of money in my account, but when your only source of income is unemployment benefits, a "little" mistake like that REALLY stings.

Maya- you should contact customer service at Nordie's and see if they will pay the overdraft protection fee. They should- and they are known for great customer service.

Maya - sorry this happened to you! I shop out of my own little bank account - no overdraft protection - and do live in fear that I will get double-charged (i.e. screwed). I'm glad it was resolved quickly for you.

I had to do that too Marianna. It is resolved, BUT: the timing is terrible. I had a check coming in that hadn't cleared yet, and my student loan and health insurance payments had cleared, so I ended up with an overdraft! The overdraft would not have happened if I didn't have that stupid double charge, despite the loan and insurance withdrawals and the check not being cleared, so it's not as though I didn't have enough money. I'm lucky I have overdraft protection but I am VERY angry. I don't think I will order from Nordstrom again, since this is obviously not just a one-off problem. I can't afford to deal with it every time.

That's ridiculous Maya, I hope it is sorted pronto. When you call Nordstrom their shoe departments till should have been up by £xxx to make it easily remedied.

Gosh, this has happened to me before and it totally messed me up financially for a couple of days. I ordered shoes over the phone and they charged me twice. I had to conference call Nordstrom CS and my bank and have them release the funds ASAP. Unfortunately, my bank puts a pending status on everything so it still took a couple of days for the funds to come back to my account. It was BAD and I was furious.

Nordstrom appears to have charged me twice for my Fidji shoes! I was horrified when I saw my bank balance today. These were a major investment for me as it is, and I can't possibly afford to pay for it twice! One charge is for the amount of the shoes, and the other amount is slightly higher--presumably the cost of the shoes with tax (we don't pay tax on clothes in NJ). I contacted my bank about it but it still leaves me extremely nervous. I need that money back immediately! Why do I never get the stellar Nordies customer service that everyone else gets? Sigh.

Know there isn't much I can do but I'm just venting. Thanks for reading and carry on...
