Davies - ha, we both bat for Team Practical...but CUTE! This outfit was the result of, "shoot, it's 10 pm, and I STILL haven't taken pix of these boots that came 3 days ago!!! Off with the jeggings, on with the straights, toss a camera to sofa-lounging dh, and ta-da, the resulting stellar photo shoot (hahahahahahaha). But I *do* like the sweater with the boots! The particular shade of brown(s) make them very versatile, and I do not feel like they are confined to "earth-tone" only outfits.

Angie - Wow - a KILLER rating! I was not expecting that! :)))) What a way to start the new year! I'm glad you clarified the volume question...I wasn't sure if I could wear these with jeggings/more fitted jeans or if I *needed* the volume. The do gap away from my calf, but like I said, I don't know how mid-calf boots should fit.

I love a cute weatherproof boot! Practical can be beautiful I really love the way the ankle straps echo the stripes in your sweater. I am not sure if it was your intention but this outfit is pretty cute to show off your boots in. Enjoy!

KILLER

You can still look polished and wear rugged boots - exhibit MPJ :). The roomy jeans look great with the boots! A sleeker look is fab too.

Your eyes need a little while to adjust. I vote keep.

Transcona Shannon - Nope, not a bad thing at all to include something a little different from my normal style. In fact, it's probably a good thing and keeps me from getting stagnant. Believe it or not, I'm *still* rebuilding my wardrobe after a serious purge 2 years ago...I am a SLOOOOW shopper. So keeping my style goals narrow and focused helped me in the beginning, because I could see how pieces worked together and felt cohesive. My wardrobe is getting to the point where I think I can add a pair of boots like the Ugg Deannas because the rest of the outfit will still be modern classic most likely, and that makes me feel grounded, and not style-scattered.

Mary and rae - thank you! I think they're super cute, too!

Karie and Beth Ann - Yes! That's *exactly* where I'm coming from. I try to be open to different fashions so the "liking" part is not usually a problem. I mean, I like quite a few of Anna's super fashion-forward outfits, but no WAY would they work for my lifestyle or true style persona. So when I come across something that is a little off the beaten path, like these rugged boots, I want to make sure I don't look costumey or style-confused.

These boots are gorgeous and look really good on you. Sure, they are a bit different for you but that's not necessarily a bad thing is it? As long as you think you'll wear them, I say keep.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I was given a similar pair for Christmas, and while my first thought was, "This isn't my style," once I put them on, they were so comfy, warm, and cute, I decided to keep them.
Yours look great! I like the updated style, how they bookend your outfit, and they look awesome with your jeans tucked into them!

I think I have a fairly dressy, polished style persona, too, but I just bought these boots last spring and have loved the possibilities they opened for me. Mine, alas, are not truly waterproof, so you have the added feature of practicality! The Uggs bookend your hair nicely, as well.

P.S. Your jeans look great tucked into the boots!

Laura made these look so good (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-bandwagon), but on me, I'm torn.

Pros:
* Weatherproof! I have recently (after living in 4-season climate all my life *cough, cough*) that weatherproof boots are essential to getting through rainy/sleety/snowy New England winters.

* Expands my wardrobe possibilities for any given day. Up til now, on rain/sleety/snowy days I would have to wear my one pair of jeggings with my one pair of weatherproof knee high boots. Adding the Deanna Uggs to the lineup means I could also wear my Paige straight legs.

* Love the color and distressed toe look - my weatherproof boots would then be: knee high black Blondo flat boots, dark brown LC ankle boots (small heel) and then these mid-calf, brown boots in a very different style...which brings me to one of my main "con."

Cons
1. It IS a different style for me...I do wear apple green cowboy boots, but these are more...rugged? I don't know that my style is so rigid or defined that I couldn't include these, but I know I also put on the YLF goggles when I see an item being worn successfully by others, and think (rather optimistically) that everything will look good on me, too!

2. Oh, I just thought of another possible con...my straight leg jeans fit rather close - I don't get the bagginess/puffiness/volume that I think Angie usually likes...does that make these a no-go? I've never had mid-calf boots - and I don't know if they suit me...my eye is not trained.
